Got my Pelt installed :D

After starting work on my rig at 7am this morning, I finally had it fully up and running at 2pm

Here's a few sneak pics ;)

Oh no - i attached the hot side of my pelt to the CPU!!! Onlty joking, asus probe doesn't seem to like temperatures lower than 0oc.

Fully sleeved 360w pelt :p

Bit of greasy action :p

Powering the pelt is an FSP 300w graphics card PSU. Originally had blue LED's but i modded them to red for progect F40 :p

Nice nice Jim!! What kind of temps is that baby givin' ya? Looks awesome!

I'm still playing with it at the mo, but with medium voltages i'm getting -2oc idle and around 3oc load.

How's ur water temp doin with that thing dumpin' all that heat in to it?

I havn't actually stuck a probe in there yet, but strangely the rad is pushing out really cool air.

Might try and source a 440w pelt or look into pushing this one harder somehow.

U need a dedicated 500+ psu for that pelt mang :D Do you get Meanwell's in the UK?

Yeah we do - they are expensive tho. Might run a couple of these FSP's together instead. Will give me 50a.

Can you do that safely? How many amps is a single unit?

25a. I'm not quite sure whats involved with running PSU's in series, but I've seen it done to power pelts before.

Ok doubling the psu's doesn't double the output ;) hehe... You're probably looking at like a max output of 35a or so, but a super solid 35a at that. Checked ebay for a Meanwell?

The thing with the Meanwell's is that you need to buy a kit from swiftech (or make your own) to turn the PSU on when the system starts and they require modding to fit in 5.25"

Also i've only ever seen 25a Meanwells anyway :s

Why wouldn't two power supplies double the output? They have Mosfet outputs so they shouldn't have thermal runaway problems.

Parallel = double the amperage

Series = when done properly, amperage stays the same, voltage doubles.

Very nice cooling setup, I've always loved pelts, definitly tune the voltages though to get better load temps as I've seen you've done.

This type of cooling isn't bad at all, but requires more insulation in my opinion then phase due to the nature of the peltier effect.

Do you USA guys have more access to high wattage pelts? I was looking for something in the 400w+ range as when pumping 1.7v thru the chip, the Idle temps do jump up a bit.

Yes I do, the next up is around 437watts (sucks around 600 or so if I remember correctly), I've actually used one. The problem is your going to need a hell of a dedicated water loop as well as a 62mm block (aka custom)
