Good Deal?

OK so I am looking to buy a new GFX card, as in a month's time or so i'm getting a load of components for free through a corporate clear-out. The specs of the machine I'm getting are: [I don't know all of them as I can't actually get into many of the settings of the PC till I get it as it's been locked out by the network admins]

Intel Celeron D 352 @3.2GHz (Cedar-Mill, 512Kb L2 Cache, 533MHz FSB)

1Gb of some unknown DDR2 RAM, I'm guessing 533MHz as it's a budget Stone Computers PC

Intel 82945G Integrated GFX, that's all I know for the mobo.

80Gb 7200rpm SATA II HDD

Now I know that spec is pretty rubbish, but hey, it's not costing me a penny, so beggars can't be choosers and all that, plus I get a free Midi case to have a play about with.

I have found a 7900GS going for ~£35 on ebuyer: http://www.ebuyer.com/product/116422/show_product_specifications

Is that a good deal? I know the celeron will probably be a bottleneck but for £35 it seems too good an offer to pass up, and if I upgrade to a C2D/P45 combination in summer, I can use the 7900 as a stepping stone while I save up the funds for a decent DX10 card. My PSU is a Corsair HX520 so there should be no worries about powering the card.

I think a 7900GS would be a good choice for what you are saying.

Maybe also get another 1gb ram because it is sooo cheap.

thats a damn steal! might replace the 6600GT in my file server with this, as it sometimes doubles up as a second gaming machine when LANing or a mate wants a game of something, as lets face it you wont get muchmorer power for under £40

Well not alot of boards support DDR2 and not PCI-e, google hasnt turned up an answer either. Best bets to hold onto the receipt just incase but if it supports DDR2 I THINK it should

Yeah ur right, I think it was the 945G onboard that threw me.

Yeah I checked it out by putting CPU-Z on the PC, and looking up the board on intel's website. Can't remember the exact board now but it definatley supports PCI-e although from the spec I couldn't quite tell whether it was in x8 electrical, but I'll find out in july when I get the PC. Card arrived yesterday well packed in a mega OTT box with loads of inflatable protective packaging , top marks to ebuyer on the delivery turnaround, grab these while they're cheap i say!
