Hi there.
I know my system specs are outdated but i would appreciate a bit of help in order to find out where i am making the mistake with my overclocking.
Goal is to achieve: 4GHz fully stable (Even 3.8GHz wouldnt hurt so as to enjoy latest titles such as crysis 3 , dead space 3).

System Specs:
Gigabyte x58 ud7 Rev 1.0 (F9a Bios)
i7 930 D0 2.8GHz CPU
Corsair Dominator 2000MHz Tripple Channel ddr3 Memory -8-8-8-24
Evga gtx480 GPU
Enermax Revolutoin 1250W PSU
SB Xfi titanium fatality pro sound card
Samsung 840 PRO SSD AHCI Mode - Win 7x64 SP1 Enterprise
Prolimatech Megashadow Push Pull config.

I have set the memory multiplier to 6.0 to check what stability i can achieve with memory at 1200MHz @ 7-7-7-20 and 1.66v.

Linx pack it will crash at around 150-200Times.
Unigine Heaven 3.0 at max settings will crash on the 4th run.
Conclusion Crysis3 , Deadspace3 etc will crash after 15mins approx of gaming.
Any thoughts ?
I'd appreciate you help.

Thanks all!

In my opinion, i dont know what exactly the problem is, but i would start by increasing the voltages of the Vcore to see if it helps, increase the voltages then test and keep doing it as it wont always fix the stability use on the first increase sometimes you need to keep increasing it, if that doesnt work, then i would say that it would have something to do with the memory as TTL talked about the ram causing crashes when overclocking in his overclocking guide, i will link you to it below so you can see what he has to say.

Just dont increase the voltages to far, personaly i wouldnt go past 1.4volts
Hope this helps

I am currently not at my house where I have a system stable similar to yours its a I7-920do running at 4g with a 200x20 @1.248core volts, but I would say your QPI/VTT should be around 1.40. and reset the timings to stock and the memory multi to 10x.
hope this helps you when I get home tonight I will pm you with my exacts. I have a very similar system I7-920Do on a gigabyte x58a-oc board.

hope this helps I am not the best at explaining things in type.
