I have the UD7 and 2600k, but have not tried to OC since the SB problem was announced - just in case....

Before this, I did overclock to 4.5GHz, but I didn't touch anything else apart from the CPU multiplier. Should the voltages be changed also, and if yes, by how much?

Cheers,

Chris

If it ran stable without having to change the volts then you shouldn't have to up them. Disable Speedstep and turbo boost if you haven't already so that you are running at 4.5ghz constantly. Also the SB problem does not affect the CPU it's only the SATA 2 ports on the motherboard overclocking wont affect them.

I'm running at 4.6ghz on my 2500k @1.37v I did try for 4.7ghz but i can't get it stable below 1.4v and I don't want to risk going over 1.38v for a 24/7 OC. I only have the standard P8P67 and I don't think it OCs well.

the problem wasnt with the sandybridge cpu it was with the sata 2 controller on the p67 chipset mate

Thanks for your replies to my post. I have the B3 stepping of the UD7 arriving today, thanks to the Gigabyte UK swap out RMA registration. It seems that the BIOS number hasn't changed, according to the Gigabyte website, so hopefully, it will jusr be a case of changing the options for the SSD in the BIOS, and should work fine....

So, if I give it a slight overclock, it is best to disable the throttling of the CPU (Speed step/TB)? I ordered a Corsair H70 cooler to go with the new mobo.

I had a P67A-UD7, from 1/2/2011 to 4/3/2011. ( The day it died )

And i'm still waiting for another one.

Don't get me wrong, i like the board, most simple oc i've ever made, but i lost confidence in GB.

So i'll be trying the M4E this time.

GB is not im my confortable spot right now.

And TTL 2nd review of M4E gave me more confidence.

Best Regards,

Pedro
