Gigabyte GTX780 Treasure Hunt

I received an email validation of my account only today but I have participated in the competition days and days ago, how do I know if the investment is successful?

the account was active but not validated when I participated in the contest .... I could not do otherwise since the validation email came after several days ....

I know politely if has appeared among the participants in the contest?

Emails are sent out instantly. If you have only just looked in your spam folder then thats your fault not ours :p

That will be because of your email provider not us dude.......

"We're sorry but your attempt to enter our competition failed because you have already entered. "

Ok i'm in the contest , have a nice day :D (I wanted to be sure of this)

Hard one, but this is what it meant to be and i'm happy if you can block some botter with this method. Hope this time i will be the lucky one. :) Thanks for the chance Tom!

Wooooot :notworthy:

Was on brink of exhaustion, site was timing out and such, was regretting to finish my search so late.

But the fruit of my labour is sooo sweet :)

PS: while looking, so many great names we lost throughout the years: Transmeta, DFI, BFG, ... I felt bit nostalgic, must admit.

Thanks for this emotional comp, TTL.

Just read the latest email and ;) I'm liking these odds "305 correct entries as of this morning"

You'd better not give any more hints out as the end nears, those of us who spent many hours looking may have a breakdown :microwave:

Heh, I finally gave up. I searched my PC's browser's history over the last few weeks for overclock3d since I've only browsed OC3d on the PC for the purpose of the contest. If I'm on OC for anything else its via personal laptop. Every morning or afternoon when I had my moment in the office, I poked around for some time until my eyes hurt and had to give up until the next day. Today was my last round and I'm done lol. I throw in the sword and surrender as my mind feels like a pancake :D

Keeping it all to the PC made it easy to benchmark my madness. History returned 2416 pages viewed. O_O Holy crap...obsessed? ...maybe. Knowing my luck I probably viewed so many of the pages multiple times. Oh well.

I admit..that's a tough one. It had me going for quite awhile. With the time spent, I could have easily devoted the time to graphics and made enough to buy the card 2-3x over, but I have issues with it comes to a puzzle that stumps me. The rubix cube drove me nuts when I was kid for a few months until I figured out one of the tricks and then never bothered with it again.

Best of luck!

That made me curious and then shocked as I found 3800!! pages :o

That was a really fun image hunt, really satisfying when you eventually find it.

Good luck to everyone else who managed it. :)

Honestly after 4 hours searching in the website I finally give up.

There are fun competitions and there are others where they are clearly meant to get a profit out of it and kinda joke with the subscribers.

Making people look at thousands upon thousands of pages on a old fashion website template is just stupid. I didnt mind searching but not in place where you have around 1000+ reviews where each one has at least 3/4 pages and it goes all the way up to 18 pages in some cases + 3760 Articles.

Then Tom even gets to the point to tell in the video that its the Website + the Forum.

This was a genius move, making everyone have to have adblock off on a website SPAMMED with ads to have a s**t ton of traffic.

I mean, its cheaper to play in the lottery then this and we have pretty much the same chance.

People work and won't stay searching for days upon days for less than 1% chance of winning.

If I have to spend 30 hours to find it, I rather buy it then, because with that time I win around 300€ at secondary jobs and don't have to do slave work.

All I have to say is that there are limits to things.

Good luck to everyone that even so got the effort of going through all that.

Newsletter says that there are as of now 305 correct entries... Hoping that I'm one of them. That also means, that the chance of winning (for those that got the entry right) is actually not bad, at least compared to "normal" competitions, where there are tens of thousands of entries.

Seriously no-one is forcing you to look. If it's too much effort for you then don't look. End of story.

Tom said website only not forums within a few hours of the comp going up...

Just to put your moaning into perspective... It can be found in under 10 clicks

Uhm, you're the Webmaster. You know where it is. I'll give you an example:

I can decrypt my encrypted "MyFiles" folder with under 30 keystrokes and 5 mouse-clicks.

Phew, found it. I wouldn't say the image location is super obvious, even with Tom's tip it still takes some time to find it.

Just use your brains and be persistent, you'll find it eventually :)

I tried for 5 hours then gave up, I missed most of Toms tips and I can't be bothered to look them all up. As there are <400 people eligible this will be interesting, good luck.

Irrelevant, it's in a public place, it's not encrypted and it doesn't require you to 'know' anything... I was pointing out a fact, it can be found by following the clues in under 10 clicks.
Simples.

People complaining about how much hard work it is to get a £500+ card just aren't going to get any sympathy because clearly, it can be done in less time than 'omg it took two weeks' :) Some people find it very quick, others less-so.

It sounds difficult until you find it ;)

Very true. I spent a couple of hours on it, but it's possible to find it in like 15 - 20 minutes if you use the tips and get lucky: it's a review OR article, depending on if you start out looking in the right place, you can find it fast. With the amount of people moaning about how difficult it is, I don't think the amount of correct entries will surpass 500 before the competition ends, which means I'll have 0,2% chance of winning  That's unless Tom gives out some huge tips in the last couple of days, which will no doubt piss off the people who already found it.
