Gigabyte Gaming G1 GTX 980 RMA?

Hey all!

I've had my Gigabyte G1 Gaming 980 GTX since March of this year, however I believe it's somewhat faulty.

Now and then I'll get a black/brown screen and a Driver Reset message appear, sometimes it results in the system totally locking up.

However, it seems to happen at random, but since playing LoL it's happening more often and is now becoming a concern.

But yet, I can play more demanding games and it'll be fine. Of course games stress the card differently...

I've use DDU to completely clean re-install the drivers, I've made sure that no overclock has been applied and the only Overclock to be active is that from the factory.

I've yet to try downclocking it, but will do to see if it's actually unstable.

Another note, is that it's being powered by a Thermaltake Toughpower 1200 Watt PSU that's been in use since 2008, I wonder if it's on it's way out?

Either way, I'm probably going to raise a ticket with Gigabyte,

What is the RMA process like for Gigabyte in the UK?

Have had this happen to myself a fair few times lately, I thought it was just due to bad drivers or something

Interesting,

Is your card a Gigabyte?

What's interesting, is I can run Unigine Valley for a good while, and then the card will cack out multiple times during a game of LoL.

Annoying, as I paid £500 odd smackers for it back in March.

afraid its not the card but the nvidia drivers, a lot of other people have this issue and it was raised on forums a while back, afaik the gta5 launch drivers are last known working that don't randomly crash.

I'd prefer it to be drivers than the actual card :)

I'll give the drivers a roll back once I'm back from work and will let you know!

I didn't look into googling too much about the drivers either, really should have done :)

Just an update:

Reverting the drivers back to the GTA V Release Drivers has seemed to improve stability a lot, I still get the odd crash now and then but it's certainly improved I believe.

I've just updated to Windows 10, so this should be interesting!
