I am a bit sad at seeing the Green Sniper boards go by the wayside. It really cuts down on the options for builders. It also seems like a "follow along" type of move to me. I thought the idea for a brand was to get your identity out there, not try to fit in or be second or third (after ASUS ROG and MSI Gaming) into the fray. Sad day I think.

I would have to agree. The options are getting more narrow. The green is part of what made this range unique now it looks just like 90% of the other red boards out there but the ROG and MSI gaming boards look much better. This board is just plain Jane. I wouldn't be surprised if another manufacturer jumped on the green color scheme soon. I also like that there's an ITX G1 board this time though. Gigabyte would have been out of their minds not to have one after how the Maxi 6 Impact went flying off the shelves. It just feels like Gigabyte is just imitating Asus now but fell painfully short.

The green colour scheme of the old G1 was a pretty unique option and its sad to see it go. I also have to agree with metalgun, if they'd done a good job on the board it would have at least been another alternative to the current options (MSI, ROG), but it just looks drab IMO.

Hopefully it wont sell well at all and they'll return to the traditional colour scheme of the G1 boards.

I had the same thought. MSI had huge success with the Z87 GD 45. It was between this board and the Maxi 6 Hero was probably the biggest sellers on each sides gaming range. I'm not liking the mainstream UD range anymore either. I saw their new black series boards and it seems they're copying the Sabretooth but without the armor.

Is it me or is the Z97 motherboard landscape saturated to high hell? Is there any reason for each of the manufacturers to release as many boards as all of them have done so? Gigabyte for instance have a whopping 24 Z97 motherboards up on their website. Were it me, I'd nearly be buying whatever the cheapest one is.

Don't get me wrong, they've all upped their game big time this generation and last generation with the Z87 boards, heck even the high end Kaveri FM2+ boards were a lot better than we've seen in the past.
