So i have use many, many, many older asus boards back in the day, and i have 0 of them left running, they have all died one me just after warenty runs out......latly i have been useing gigabyte boards in all my builds, and the ocasional msi boards. I find most of the boards perform about the same, but what do you guys think? is one brand better than the other? do any of you have problems with a certain brand? do you just prefer a brand for any reason?

some ppl just stick to what they know works the best, and gives the most for the money.

there are no 'best mobo makers', but there are alot of 'worst mobo makers'

Gigabyte, Asus, MSI and Evga are the best (IMHO)

i will not shame the worst manufacturers by naming them, as there are a few

just get a mobo that offers ALL the features you want.

it is pointless buying the most expensive, that has all the bells-n-whistles, if you are not going to use them.

Asus boards are great when there working but should they fail even under warranty duration good luck!! There RMA and customer service is not what it used to be. Gigabyte (currently own and use) mine has an issue atm which I need to send in for RMA. I contacted them and within 24 hours had my RMA # only issue is on my part need to contact them and see if I can advanced RMA it. Cant be down while its gone. And my current back-up is shite and not up to doing anything but web surfing even that is slow lol. MSI another great company but I cant speak on their RMA's at this time as i have no experience with it.

I'm a long-term Gigabyte motherboard user since P4. So far none of the board has failed. But will be first time to use MSI board, going for their MSI Z77A-6D65 for my new build.

My first build I used an MSI and it died on me 2 days after I bought it. I went up to Frys and exchanged it for a ASUS and that board has lasted me 4.5 years. Now MSI have came along ways since those days. These were the days of the LGA 775 so along time ago. My current build has a MSI z77 gd 65, I am waiting for the IB before I can tell you how it runs but I would not hesitate going with an msi again. Also Asus likes to think there products are the cream of the crop when in fact the preform identically to their competitors. Just my 2cents.

msi and gigas aftersales service is second to none, i will not buy a mobo from anyone else these days incase the worst does happen.

Been an Asus board owner since i built my first rig and their boards are solid, never failed on me. I also like EVGA boards and may choose one for my next build

Gigabyte Asus and MSI motherboards all perform well and most have identical features. That said Gigabyte is and will remain my AMD motherboard brand and Asus my Intel motherboard and MSI for my servers.

MSI LGA775 and LGA1366 motherboards have chosen to stop working when they want to and Gigabyte motherboards just don't seem to die. Asus can be up and down. EVGA boards are decent but the SR-2 is $#!+.

Spend cash on what has the features you need in your budget. Don't buy a quad sli mobo and then only use a single HD 6770. Thats being rediculous. mATX motherboards are now coming back and few mATX cases support liquid cooling and Corsair and Asertek have decent coolers.

So if you read this post later on take everybit of advices issued by each member.

I have used only Gigabyte and ASUS motherboards in all my builds. I feel they have performed well for me, so I stick with what I know works. I do have to say that Gigabyte has great customer service.

Asus is usually the brand I prefer but gigabyte, Msi and Evga all make great boards. They have all had flops from time to time but generally they make solid boards. When picking I would pay more attention to what features you want and read customer reviews on newegg, amazon ect. That will give you some idea of what to expect. Start with all the boards from the big 4 and narrow the list by features. when you are down to a few read the reviews by costumers/websites and decide from there. Take either type of review with a grain of salt though as many bad reviews are simply operator error while others may indicate a problem with the board.

i know i missed many board brands....but i just wanted to pick the biggest brands i know of.....feel free to include the ones i missed
