Ghosts problems...

Anyone got these symptoms with Call of duty ghosts and can help me to fix them since the Call of duty forum is impossible to navigate?

First of all after the 40GB, 4 disc install! the game was laggy as hell even in the menu and running on the default "auto" graphics settings, found out this is to do with the steam overlay and appearing offline in steam will help aid the lag in the menus, which is ridiculous as then I cant invite a friend into a game or talk to anyone on steam.

Second problem, Constant crashing! it can be within 30 minutes or 30 seconds of playing! anyone know a fix for this as infinity ward are taking forever with the patch?

Lastly, lag when entering a game, this only happens when i join a game that has already started. if I'm already in the lobby before the game begins its fine and no framerate drops when trying to move/shoot in the first minute of the game.

Any help with these problems will be appreciated! :) thanks!

Hi there FlangeBBK

Call of duty ghosts unfortunately because its a good game is an awful pc port and should not have been released like it has i can guarantee that people would have rather have waited for longer for a half decent port call of duty black ops 2 was a good example that ran perfectly for most people, the issues you are having are the exact same issues i have had and all of my friends that play it also have this problem there are a few fixes i have found after allot of looking around but obviously i don't know the spec computer you are running it on i can shoot you the config file for the settings i am using for my i5 CPU 7950 but as you most likely know call of duty ghosts uses allot of ram so to be able to run this game better you need allot of Vram.

so first off i know its a big file and i personally think not compressing textures is ridicules especially when they don't look like the belong in whats being called a "next gen game" but theres no fix for the file size :P

like i said i can shoot you the config file over tomorrow if you want to pm me or something to remind me as i am not on my gaming machine now!

it doesn't like steam overlay at all so to fix this you really need to disable it (i haven't because i personally haven't found it to be an ishue ) you can invite friends in game with F1 i believe?

As for the constant crashing randomly this seems a little unusual unless you tab out and back in if you tab out of this game there is a 50/50% chance of it working when you tab back in

the 3rd ishue may be an internet connection problem so you might want to look into having a static ip and all that router stuff for games i just googled it.

another useful think to note is allot of people are using the 90FOV unlocking tool that you apparently "cant get banned for" i've been using it and have had no problem since day one and so have allot of other people so dare i say it you should be ok but that's a your own risk DONT OPEN IT WHEN PLAYING OTHER GAMES i cant stress that enough incase you get banned from those as i do not know that much about steam detection :P

also i do not know if infinity ward will even patch it there has been no final say on that so far but good luck like i said i can shoot you the config i use or just try lowering the settings allot.

Have fun if you have any more questions just ask :)

:o

Hi mate, yeah that would be great. My system isn't the best in the world but I know it's good enough to run this game at decent settings. Spec: AMD Athlon quad core fm2, 8gb corsair vengeance low profile 1600mhz, XFX 6870 1gb. I'll pm my email over to you if that's alright mate?

Still not sure about the lag when entering a game, my router is all good and the nat type is open and I'm running a 60mb fibre connection.

Thanks for your advice mate, I appreciate it! :)

i've emailed it over to you :) good luck :P
Let me know how you get on

Cheers for that mate, Actually has improved the gameplay. Just played a few games after changing the config files and lag during game is minimal. Haven't witnessed a crash yet. The freezing inside the menus is still there and also at the loadout screen at the beginning of a game but other than that running well. Just wanted to confirm these settings are the same as yours? had to change the resolution and aspect ratio as im running a 1920x1200 display but thats all.

UPDATE - 5/12/2013

Anyone with multiple monitors having trouble getting it to launch on the primary monitor? I have a Dell U2412M (Primary) and Ben-Q GL2450 and have been trying to get the game to display on the dell and it wont and being Ghosts there's no option to change which monitor the game displays on. The only way I can get it to show on the Dell is to unplug the Ben-Q which i dont really want to be doing every time I want to play. Anyone having this issue?

Lag when entering game is still horrendous and then proceeds to glitch out the video driver which then crashes the game *sigh!* I'm running the latest stable release driver from ATi which is 13.9 btw. I did try to install the newest beta drivers which just didn't agree with my system and didn't install. Anyone know a fix for this?

Thanks, Josh
