Hello.
Is it worth getting a 970gtx now after all that 3.5GB issue, or should i wait for next gen or something?
The strix is on 14% discount, other 970s are on 17% discount
Thanks
never mind. i was so dumb that i read the time format wrong that i missed the deal. it ended 1 hour ago. i feel so smart now. haha![]()

I think you "can/should" still get it though as I believe most fellas in here would agree that it's still great... that is of course, if you want it and have the money for it.
to be honest, with that 14% i would just have had enough to buy it. now i dont. haha xP
ill see what ill do. might just wait till next sale. i wont be gaming hardcore games for some time, so i think ill do.
right now im using a laptop for gaming. but i got the intel G3258 cpu today, and with that i can build a temporary gaming desktop using an old gpu i got from my brother (amd 5670 1gb) while im waiting for sales to come around.
Ohh well, that sucks then mate :/... yeah, I think you have it all planned out well dude, better off waiting for a next sale.
Who knows, maybe they'll even push it a bit more and have it on sale for even cheaper?![]()
yeah, i really do hope so. ive been waiting so long for the 4690k or 4790k to come on sale, but they are only rising :/ so i gave up and bought the 3258 instead until the broadwell and skylake come out. im sure there will be better and cheaper cpus available when that hits the marked. if not, ill at least be able to buy the 46 or 4790k as a used one which i havent found any of them atm.

It's intel. It won't lose it's value for a long ass time especially since the performance doesn't really go up much from older vs newer. Most "older" chips are usually the same exact price on websites.
Processors will never come on sale as the margins are absolutely tiny for retailers. I remember OCUK sold all intel processors at cost price once and i7's were like £7 cheaper, it was just unnoticeable. Some of the motherboard + cpu cashback promotions have been quite significant but in general prices don't drop, even as generations pass. Not like other components, at least it keeps the used market strong.

In 2014, i saw two sales on the intels. 4970k had a 23% discount and 4690k had a 20% or so too on black friday. unfortunately, i was too late to those discounts. they were sold out too fast!
That's an exceptional discount and either that particular market is less competitive so they can normally retain a higher margin or it was some serious loss leading

i would say the 970's are still great cards
Despite the memory thing, all the reviews and benchmarks are still 100% correct so yes; It is still a great card for the money.
