GeForce 9800 GT vs Radeon 4850

Can I get some opinions on which of these is a better deal?

On Newegg, they have a deal for the GeForce 9800 GT with COD 4 & 5 for only $129. This is reduced to $109 with mail in rebate.

The Radeon 4850 is $144.

I know the 4850 is a little faster than the 9800 at higher resolutions.

However, is it really worth it to pass up the deal for the 9800?

Opinions are grealty appreciated. Thanks

What resolutions will you be running at?

If you'll be running at anything lower than 1680x1080 then get the 9800GT.

Anything higher than 4850.

This is only if you care about speed and not economy.

But I would go for the 9800GT because of the bundle.

And I would think other people would also.

I tried both. I really liked the 4850 although I didn't like how hot it ran at idle. Apart from that the only reason I returned it and bought a 9800gt was because I got suckered in by Physx and CUDA featuresets. (still waiting for physx to take off, but badadoom is proving to be really useable application in terms of speed). In the end I decided to hang onto only as a stop gap until the next generation cards come out.

4850 or 4830.

Unless you have an SLi board, then the 9800GT and get a second one later on. If you have an xfire board, get two 4830s

9800 is a bargain.

If ur looking at $144 type cards, I'd consider a 9800GTX+ from NewEgg b4 even thinking of a 4850/30.
