Nvidia is poised to rain on ATI's HD 2900 XT parade with the expected release of the uber gorgeous 8800 Ultra. Pic and clock details in the news article
Still looks better than the 8800 GTS/GTX imho. The Ultra really is only a pawn; all it has to do is illustrate that Nvidia has the fastest card at the time to dissuade users from getting the 2900 XT. Of course you're going to have your die-hard fans who'll buy their preferred manufacturer religiously but at the end of the day sales win.
But i agree about the whole cooler thing. My mates 8800GTS is a real hothead. His is overclocked to 650/2000 and it really does get roasting. If it wasnt labelled as Nvidia id think it was an Ati card lmao.
But making it an even LONGER card? the GTX is an effort to get some larger cases to fit it. If you havent got a big case then your screwed, making you spend more on a new case.
How big IS this card going to be? My Tsunami Dream cant get a GTX in unless i take out the HDD rack. But i have an Antec 900 on its way.
I was holding out for the ati offering but when this baby drops I think I'll have to get one, or the GTX.
Any word on of the stream proccessor is overclocked/unlocked for clocking? Waaaaay back nVidia said it would eventually unlock the option to OC the stream proccy... Perhaps it is reserved for the ultra?
