Game Dev for School, I'm stuck

Hey guys, sorry for the lack of activity from my side. I've been extremely busy with school with my finals coming closer and closer. Especially my IT assignment is really hard (for me), and that's why I'm asking from advice from you guys.

For IT class, I need to develop a video game, and I'm absolutely stuck. Even worse, we got permission to turn our game in later, but it's still due Friday and I just can't do it. My partner wanted to create a boxhead clone (like a top-down arena shooter) in GameSalad.

We have a menu and I've tried to create characters and levels, but all of my attempts don't work out, and let's not even get started about GameSalad, I just don't get it. I've never really been someone with a lot of knowledge when it comes to coding and game design. Any advice for me? I know this is last minute and I'm probably screwed, but I'm going to try and limit the damage.

I did create a character in the mean time, it's very simple but it'll have to do

It looks very bad when zoomed in, but in-game it should be better. The white border has been taken care of too

Try and look for video tutorials - I've never even heard of game salad.

I know it's probably a little late to be looking at other software, but have you seen Game-Editor

I'm currently playing with it in the hope to create my own platformer, it has full tutorials for every step of the way when building a new game.

I started looking for tutorials as suggested by SPS, and found a great tutorial for Game Makers, so I did end up changing software. Now it's just waiting for me to receive my results.

With this I've finished my last project for school until my finals, so I can finally concentrate on writing for OC3D again (at least until my finals start in May)!

Yeah GameMaker is the more popular software for this level.
