Why on earth isn't this a fully unlocked Titan-X chip in the middle of that PCB? I mean if one is in the game of breaking records, why would he be starting with the handbrake put on in form of some disabled SMXs?!

I'll bet a fully enabled GM200 will also work with only 6GB of VRAM...

Well there is that rumored 980 Ti Metal Edition which "Might" be the full GM200 that's inside the Titan X but with only 6GB of memory and beefed up power system

wouldn't that be rather pointless as the current partner 980TIs at stock beat a stock titan?

Jayztwocents did one recently of the Gigabyte G1 980 Ti and his reviews are really solid.
The G1 was clocked at 1550 and the Titan X was clocked at 1400 and the Titan X was still ahead, Only by like 1 or 2FPS but it was still ahead.
