hey all, as you all know just built a pc ;) after 2 reinstalls i got it running perfect, as before when isntalling dual core patch it took ages to loads windows some programs wouldnt run etc,

any ways i tryed installing raid but no matter what tryed i kept getting blue screens, well i partitioned my first 80 gig for my xp install, and im using the other haslf of the first drive for program installs, and my second for media, going to try and keep viruses to a minimal from the boot partition,

has anyopne else had bsod problems when trying to install raid on the asus a8n32-sli? ive searched round on google. and tryed things on there but still no joy :'(

What do you mean install RAID?

Plug two identical drives into two adjacent SATA ports (they don't have to be adjacent but I do that anyway).

You enable RAID in the BIOS (on whatever controller you want it on)

Then go into the RAID BIOS and set the type of RAID you want (RAID 0 is striped) and choose the drives you want. This then makes the RAID drive (wiping both discs)

Then if your installing XP on it you go into setup from CD, press F6 to install RAID drivers and install the RAID drivers off of the disc.

If not installing XP on the drives you boot into windows after making the array and it should detect the array. Then you may have to use the RAID drivers on the floppy.

it laods all the drivers after f6 then its gets to the laoding windows setup, just before the lisence agreement, and then blue screens!

So you got to the menu where it asks you for the drivers, detects them off of the floppy and installs them?

if im right u first need to go into bios, set to raid. you can do this throu silicon or the NF4. which means you also have to put ur SATA cables in the right location. before you enter in to the windows install and hit f6 and all you need to create the partition before hand. Once you set Raid enable and the selected drives, before the BOOT CD screen there should be a raid control screen which is where you i guess merge/raid the drives together. Then go through the normal setup with hit F6 with drivers.

lol didnt see that i guess when scrolling i guess i skipped it, and only saw ur second post...:banghead: :banghead: :banghead:

sometimes after pressing F6 and just befroe the windows setup it asks for additional SCSI drivers, this can also be counted as raid as it does not actually ask for RAID drives. press S and select you r raid driver as the SCSI device and it should work. I get asked this with my XP Pro SP1 disk.
