G1 assassin and case?

I was looking to get the G1 assassin and corsair 800D but have seen they're incompatible as the 800D cant house an XL-ATX MB, has anyone got a suggestion for another case or MB?

I'm relatively new to building PCs so I'm looking for something easy to install. One of the reasons I was looking at the G1 was the front panel it comes with ect.

Cheers in advance guys!

But have you seen the price???? You would be far better off with a less expensive board, unless you plan on some serious overclocking.

Case wise:

Lian Li PC-P80

Lian Li PC-P80R

HEC 98 98R9BB

Thermaltake Xaser VI VG4000SNA

Thermaltake Xaser VI VG4000BWS

Thermaltake Xaser VI VG4000BNS

Thermaltake Xaser VI VG4000BNSB

Thermaltake ArmorPlus VH6000BWS

Mountain Mods Acension w/ Modular Motherboard Tray 10 PCI Slot

Xigmatek CPC-T75UB-U01

Cooler Master HAF X

Well I've got quite a bit of spare cash but I'm not that interested in over clocking I just want some kind of dedicated gaming MB? Any advice ?

The G1 Sniper is the same as the Assassin except for 3 things:

1. It only has 8 phase power not 16 but this only matters if your doing extreme overclocking.

2. It only has 3 x16 PCI-E slots but that only matters if you wanted Quad-Fire.

3. It's a ATX board and not a XL-ATX board which is an advantage because that gives you a hell of a lot more case options.

If I was you I'd go with the Sniper instead of the Assassin.

Edit: and it would look amazing in this case http://www.bitfenix....colossus-venom/ which you can get a side panel with a window making it look epic, imho

Thanks for the advice, would you say the rampage III black edition would be a better board if I had the cash? Also would it fit in an 800D? Sorry for the newbie questions! Thanks again!

Personally, no.

Also would it fit in an 800D? Sorry for the newbie questions!

The nick name for the 800D is the hot box. And that's not just on these forums I promise you.

Unless you intend to go under water then I wouldn't put anything in that case you didn't want toasting.

Thanks again!

Your welcome

If as you stated you just want something for gaming why don't you take a serious look at the sandybridge cpu's a 2500k or 2600k will eat any game out there!

Well I've decided on a 2600k i7 and a gtx 590 but the motherboard and case are my main concern. I love the simplistic looks of the 800d (mostly metal with window) and want a dedicated gaming MB with the features of the G1 or black edition (prioritised gaming traffic & sound) anyone know of anything like that I can stick a rad in? thanks again in advance!

The G1 motherboards all use 1366 sockets mate, and so does the black rampage.

The 2600K is a 1155 chip.

Basically what I'm getting at is that there not going to fit.

The other thing is that if this is a gaming rig you are wasting your money on a 2600K because the only advantage this has over the 2500K is that it has twice the threads and whilst this might seem impressive it does sweet FA for games.

If you want a G1 motherboard have a look at the i7 960 CPU.

If you want a 2600K/2500K have a look at the sandy bridge motherboards.

The other question is why did you want the 590 cus if you have more than one PCI-E slot to spare it's not really considered to be the best way to spend your money?

What would you advise as far as a sandy bridge MB and a future proofed gpu? As you can tell I'm new to this so any advice would be welcome!

Sandybridge wise. You could be happy with a nice MSI motherboard GD65, or if you want all blackness then maybe a UD5 from gigabyte???

As for GPU there is no such thing as future proof. But your options for best would be 6950 (can unlock to a 6970 so money saved) or a 570 as it is a stonking card.

Oh and as above, thermaltake are crap, but I just posted the cases that took XL-ATX.

No need to buy top of the line kit if you are new and unsure. Best to start off with less money that could be wasted if it breaks XD
