I wouldn't have thought AS5 was electrically conductive at all, but don't quote me on that.
Correct me if I'm wrong, but you say the FX works in another rig?
What about resetting the CMOS to "Factory Defaults" after removing the old CPU and before putting the FX in place. Can be done with the reset jumper in the CLR/CMOS position for 30secs or flipping out the battery and holding "+" side down in the holder for 30secs. Make sure the PC is off and the power lead is not connected.
Could be something else that you're overlooking. A jumper on the mobo, perhaps. Have you tried booting from CD?
