FX53 isnt working on mobo

I wouldn't have thought AS5 was electrically conductive at all, but don't quote me on that.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but you say the FX works in another rig?

What about resetting the CMOS to "Factory Defaults" after removing the old CPU and before putting the FX in place. Can be done with the reset jumper in the CLR/CMOS position for 30secs or flipping out the battery and holding "+" side down in the holder for 30secs. Make sure the PC is off and the power lead is not connected.

Could be something else that you're overlooking. A jumper on the mobo, perhaps. Have you tried booting from CD?

as5 = arctic SILVER 5. silver being a super conductive metal.

I thought it was just heat conductive tho. I stand/sit corrected:D

They go hand in hand m8. But I`m sure there`s some sub-atomic level that makes something on the periodic table do better than another due to it`s .. (can`t even remember that bit myself sorry).

Had an ASUS motherboard that behaved almost exactly how u`r describing. The board firstly needed upd8ing to cope with anything over a Sempron64, but it didn`t actually help that the cpu I was trying was fragged in advance - so I couldn`t get the board to auto-flash any kind of bios through the cd or floppy.

Same symptoms, turn on and just the fans go around.

Got a new processor from the suppliers and the board behaved differently and actually told me on post that the cpu was unidentified. Flashed it and every1 was then calm and relaxed.

It's conductive and capacitive isn't it?

Capacitance is a different kettle filled with different types of cod. Dependant on non conductive, as well as conductive materials.

Yup yup, I tried clearing the CMOS and then adding the FX53, also tried the booting from CD, Still get no activity whatsoever, cant see any jumpers on the board, but will d/load and check the manual again, just in case I missed anything

HU****INGRRAY!!!!! Just used some TIM clean and a piece of cardboard to get between the pins. Working like a dream now! Thank you so much for that advice and pointing me in the right direction guys
