FX-4100 vs phenom ii x4 810

Hello everyone!

I am looking to upgrade my cpu on the cheap.

I know bulldozer hasn't been the most amazing thing since sliced bread but its not THAT bad is it?

Anyhow my poor little 810 is starting to show its age and i'm lookin for somthing a little better.

I have SLI GTX560's at 931 core and 1077 memory. I'm currently running only one card because I lost my SLI bridge.

I mostly play games BF3, World in Conflict, RO2 etc. And do a small amount of photo editing.

Edit: I don't care about the graphics settings too much but medium/high would be nice.

The 810 does great in BF3 on medium settings with no AA until you get on a larger server and stand on a roof then you see the 35-70 fps drop to 11 fps.

The thing that makes me so intrested in the FX-4100 is the great price its right at or around $100.

Its very difficult to find benchmarks that show both cpus on the same games.

if you goto http://community.fut...4100/benchmarks and select the 810 it shows a score of 3430 vs the FX's 6190.

probably not the best method of compare I know.

A worthy upgrade or should I just hang in there and wait it out for piledriver's FX-4xxx?

Edit: I've never overclocked a cpu before so if that was to be suggested I'd have no clue where to start.

I think the cpu upgrade would make a difference for you,

A 4100 at stock will happily play games at a minimum 30+ fps. It will run minimum fps in bf3 at 40+ in most situations.

Would also be a huge help if you got that sli bridge back on!

well what kind of budget do you have mate?

could always get a cheap intel cpu and mobo then upgrade later. my little i3 2100 plays bf3 on high at about 35-45 fps no problems. all depends on budget but if all you can afford is a fx 4100 then go for it, just make sure your mobo supports it

also maybe look at a phenom 965 or one of those black edition cpu's, might be able to find one cheaper than the bulldozer
