Future Samsung Smart TVs will have built-in Steam Link support

That's a smart idea, though will it have the controller receiver built into the TV?

The TV will need to support controllers for PlayStation Now and Steam Link.

Valve is also building DS4 controller support to Steam, which lines up well with this feature.

yaaaay! This is awesome news :) Hopefully it doesn't inflate the prices too much and is just a nice standard feature :)

So how would this work exactly? Play on the PC but it's just streamed to the TV? Wouldn't it be better to just connect them directly?

It's so you don't have to have your actual physical gaming rig in the room or wired to your TV.

Alot of the higher-end TV setups in homes now are quite minimal, clean lines, thin bezels, floating TV's on walls etc. Having a fugly ass cable from a big-rig to a TV is not desirable, but shooting the signal to it wirelessly.. that's cool and gives it some connectivity.

I haven't tried Steam link yet, but my buddy is coming back from 'Steamcon' with one to play with, so I'll be giving it a go soon.

Also if you had one in every room, you'd need multiple PCs!

Oh I see now. I could see this being useful then. Although don't think it would be all that comfortable playing so far away with a mouse and keyboard, unless you have a steam controller

Which I do :) so I'm happy to give it a try when my buddy gets back.

Damn it, why does this always happen just after I buy a new TV??

Great idea, seeing any streaming integration on smart TV's is a move forward not only for the TV itself, but a clear indication of the popularity growth in PC gaming.
