FSX installation disc read problems.....

I'm looking for a workaround to this issue if you like...

I have FSX and the acceleration expansion disc on physical discs and have had them on my PC before..... for some reason though one day it failed to load and I ended up attempting an uninstall and reinstall.....

uninstalled fine, but my PC won't load the disc fully...

'My computer' recognises the disc, but when I go to open the disc I can see the file names but the icon images stay blank, and the disc speed is at jet engine.....

The disc is fine, no scratches etc.... the drive is fine, recognizes all other discs (black ops 2, mw3, audio CD's)

I've tried using magiciso to create a disc image and install from that, but the pc needs to fully read the disc....

I'm nearly out of ideas and only have 2 options left that I can think of.
1. try doing a disc image on my laptop, in the hope that it reads properly. (doing this later)
2. get it from the bay and use my legit codes. (do not want to dl it)

any other workarounds?

Are there any slight scratches on the top of the disc? Could have a hairline scratch in the label that's just nicked a bit you need :(

A DL would be the obvious solution but the sizes are horrendous for those sorts of things, Have you got a USB DVD drive you can use or borrow from anyone to try that?

I consider my eyes to be very good however the fsx discs ihave all look ammaculate, only been used once (by me on 1st install)

I don't have an external DVD drive to hand but this is where my old laptop my come to the rescue, if it loads it properly and can create an iso from it,

Sounds like the optical drive has gone.

I tried to install Windows using an OD, read fine but it never finished the job. Replaced the drive with a spare and it solved the problem.
