FSB Issues

Currently using a Foxconn Mars mobo (unmodded) for benching under dice/ln2 using a Dragon Evo 2.4 pot.

With my Q6600 G0, I was able to get a max of 542 FSB. I was quite happy with that. Same max with both dice and LN2.

X3220 G0 I got 510 FSB. Not as happy as with the Q6600, but not completely unreasonable. Only dice on this one not LN2 as of yet.

I also benched a few C2D as well.

E2160 max FSB was 350. :damn:HIGHLY disapointing. I see many people on hwbot benching this chip on various tests at 4500-4700 mhz, or over 500 FSB. I benched this one on dice and no ln2 yet.

E4500 max FSB 375. :damn:Once again HIGHLY disapointing. I also see many people benching this chip at 4500+ mhz, or 440ish FSB for the most part. This one was dice only as well.

Im going to bench the C2Ds on my P5K vanilla (highly voltmodded) and see if its an issue with the Mars and C2Ds, or 800 Mhz CPUs, but what ele could it be? Any suggetions as to why I get PITIFUL, I mean absolutely PITIFUL FSBs on such great cooling?

The chips are low-binned, a lot of the E21x0 series are apparently very hit n miss.

Have you tried clocking them on air? How did they do?

I have not OCd these 2 C2D on air yet, and did not plan to. I think I might need to try.

Dont you think its a bit odd that an E2160 has a max FSB of 350 though? I mean......i understand these chips can be binned low but......350 FSB???

And thats 350FSB with a low multi....i forget if the multi was 6 or 7....but it was low.

Do you think BSEL/pin modding would help to loosen up the straps and get higher OCs?

I dont think FSB mods on the CPU change anything on the CPU so to speak- the straps are determined by the mobo.

I dont *think* theres any harm in trying though.

200-> 350FSB is still a 75% OC... The chips probably arent binned that low for a laugh- they will be defective in some way to stop them being set higher.

Sorry- theres a chance you lucked out this time:(
