freaking game rage

just bought tomb raider and arma 3 and both games refuse to run for more than 30 seconds before they crash. i have just spent 55 quid to scratch my crotch and hit the reset button. is anyone else getting this. in both games i defaulted to max settings at 2560*1440 and it runs grand UNTIL IT CRASHES. i cant be the only one that this is happening to. i swear if this is because i have win 8 i am going to fly to the states to kick steve ballmer in the nuts till he bleeds out his anus

well arma is in alpha, so that was to be expected. specs?
but kick ballmer in the nuts anyways, because that guy is single handedly destroying microsoft.
also win8, kinda your fault.
 
3930k gtx670 sli 16gb domi gt. im well equipped to take it on. win 8 was 20 quid at christmas. it was begging to be purchased and since i have discarded my win 7 as i thought it was useless. i regretted that move within days. tomb raider on the other hand is not an alpha. i disabled tressfx and it runs butter smooth till it locks up
 
she be stable. thoroughly tested i got to the limit and then downclocked i havent had any issues what so ever. until these two games. im rmaing the ssd tomorrow anyway so ill prob just play revengeance now to ease the rage. nothing calm you down faster than ripping out a cyborgs spine to absorb his juices
 
Tomb raider currently has massive issues with Nvidia 600 series cards. A possible fix to stop it crashing is to turn off tesselation and exclusive fullscreen as well as V-sync. Also as has been said before Arma 3 is in alpha so it's kinda expected.
 
Yeah I understand the frustration with that. What drivers have you got installed? Also have you had any luck with Tomb Raider?
 
For Arma 3 its deffo Win8 causing your game to crash. I play Arma 3 on Win7 without much problems. I had a few crashes and low framerates but i solved this by "unparking" my cpu cores.
Also note Arma 3 is still in alpha and isnt very well optimized yet but i hope they will move their arses this time and do their jobs...

About Tomb Raider i have no clue ....
 
i thought that win 8 was like win 7 with useless bolt ons that could be bypassed. metro being one of them. i got pokki to give me a start button again but it wasnt the same. i missed aero glass almost immediately its just crap.

i'm forced to use it at school atm, it's a pain in the ass to work with. i usually just run a virtual win 7 machine to work, win8 is an abortion.
 
I don't think there is any need for the abortion comment mate . I understand your fustration but I'm sorry that is just wrong .
 
I'm runing arma3 fine on windows 8. I'm yet to experience any crashing at all. Are you trying to play multi player? Its quite possibly the server you're on sucks.

Are you on the arma3 development build or the "Stable" build?

What is it exactly in arma3 you are doing when the game crashes? This might help highlight the issue. As for tomb raider i've no idea :/

Touchy. I disagree that it's an abortion, as it was clearly born when it shouldn't have been.

Perhaps SeekaX was thinking of the word abhorrent.

Its not the game.

Your drivers crash, which for nvidia they manage to recover often but default clocks to 2d mode which is horrible.

turn down your bloody oc before you blame awesome games. if you are running stock then you have a bad spec configuration; end of

Im not going to help you more then that. do some research yourself before you start overclocking anything next time.

whenever i get to use it i have a "what the heck is this crap" moment every 2 minutes. yes, it definitely got aborted by microsoft.
