Forums seem quiet...

Hey all,

I dont know about anyone else but the OC3D forums seem awfully quiet at the minute. Maybe its just because I have more time to browse them at college but even on a night there just doesnt seem to be many new topics.

Come on lads, keep this place alive!

Sam.

Think it's cuz your bored Hyper - Get a job!!! :p

I dread coming back to the forums after a week off, always well over 1000 posts unread :(

I think it's got a lot busier lately with a lot of new members posting up aswell.

I had a semi whine/rant about this in the private forum not too long ago!

Well in terms of people reading the homepage, this has actually increased by 400% since we last did the stats in July 2007. So there's definitely not less people reading your news.

However, the forum hits have only increased by ~50% which is probably mainly down to competitions and other bits and bobs.

At the end of the day the figures above totally reflect where the effort is going into the site. We're working hard on the reviews and trying our best to get the latest news up there, but there's nobody really doing the same for the forum. Nobody is going to stick around on the OC3D forums just to post "wow thats great" type posts in our news/review threads - there needs to be something keeping them coming back.

Now unless someone wants to take the reins and do something on the forum that will keep people interested (bench team, community games, competitive threads) then yes the forum will die, and there's sweet FA we can do about it.

So there you have it. We need to get the forum active again. I'm going to be driving the bench team forward with Ham so hopefully there will be some friendly competition and some new activity there.

The projects section is fairly alive and well, it's always cool watching things develop.

Basically it is up to existing forum members. You can do user reviews, start debates on whatever interests you at the time, maybe some off topic threads to get to know everyone a bit better (i'm sure plenty already exist so maybe revive a few). If you rock on photardshop/sketchup make a vid/guide on some cool techniques... The only people we can blame is ourselves.

I'm glad you feel the same way though. If members have some passion for :oc3d: then it will go on.

I for one am busy at work, i shouldn't even be on here! :p

I shud be building my website...lol

I'm gonna get all my benchies up asap

plus imn forever making noob discussion threads on what hardware to get next :p

well, i've posted a couple of times and the posts have pretty much gone ignored.

That sucks.

Go 'bump' them - go into the thread, hit quick reply, type 'bump', submit reply and someone should pick them up.

You're new, be honest and say what is wrong/bad w/e...

Yea sorry im sure you guys have noticed i havent been posting much. I got a new job and its been taking ALOT of time because im trying to become a manger there. Not only that, i have a gf and its gettin kinda serious. So i post when i can. And sorry if my posts seem like flames, they arent. Im just really tired when i do post.

It's not that quiet. Its getting about 150 posts a day isn't it. Mostly it seems between 9-5 (whilst i sleep hehe) Through the night is usually pretty sleepy.

Forum does seem a little quiet whilst I'm up which really isn't unusual considering the timezone difference. But it does seem to average around 80 - 100 posts, so there is some activity going on. In order for the forum to keep busy we all need to make a concerted effort to post more. Find some interesting stuff on your travels around the www, post it here and peeps will chat. :)

Just plugging some more CS:S stuff.

My housemate is an Admin on -=VIA=- (the number 1 server on game-monitor.com HERE )

and they have helped develop another mass ban list type plug-in. It's called EfragC, with the imaginative website of www.efragc.eu. This one is a bit different as it actively encourages you to swap between the communities servers and forums. Oh it also allows any of the admins to ban on any server (they must have really good demo's and be checked by a ban manager as well, or the ban doesn't stick) Which would increase the lack of admins somewhat. I think you need to put up 3 people to become admins.

After the servers are sorted it might be a good idea to think about applying to join. They don't have any reverse GG servers on there and i'm sure it would prove quite popular and boost activity on both the forum and server.

Frag - where you at! The place isn't the same without you buddy!

Agreed. AFAIK he cant get online while at work, and when he comes home at night he's pretty shattered.

As a Dual Xeon will be shipped back in his direction soon, I think we'll make a pre-requisite that he needs to post more
