so ive joined the folding team and with my gaming rig being ati based it sucks at folding, so im going to build myself a dedicated folder was just wondering if anyone could give me advice as to what i should aim for spec wise i was thinkin something on the low end intel dual core celeron/pentium's with a low end asus p5kpl m/b its only got 2 sata's but this will only have 1 hard drive and a dvdrw and nowt but the folding stuff and an os

i know what graphics card ill get an 8800/9800gt then a gtx260 at later date?

so how would this spec stand up 2 folding?

All you need is PCIE, could be single core p4 cpu, wont matter, aslong as it can run windows xp then you have no issues. I would make it as cheap and stripped out as possible dude.

yeah i was thinkin that myself, i have my mum's old pc here (sempron 3000+ 1.8ghz) but thats a no go cause thats only got agp and i have an old p4 775 m/board but that is also agp :cussing:

would rather it was dual core incase something happens with this i can resort to that for a small amount of time then my sister can inherit it when i change this rig for a new gamin set up and can put this to work on it

is windows xp better for folding than vista and 7?

i have windows xp home and windows 7, i have the 64 installed on this machine would it be ok if i installed the 32bit on the folding machine at the same time?
