Floppy Drive Position?

Can a floppy drive operate on any position like side way up?

Upside-down is not recommended, and which of the others.. well I'm curious myself.

I seem to remember eject button being on the bottom is fine.

Floppy drives...I remember those

I've had them sitting sideways (both sides). They dont eject properly if you have them pointing 'upwards', and as Rast said, up-side-down is a nono too.
