Is there a stable way to flash two nasty little non-referance XFX 5870s in to nice normal 5870s with voltage control?

Non reference HD5870 is missing the voltage control chip.
You need to hardmod it to control vgpu
I was afraid you'd say that.
Silly XFX, I can't believe it would have cost them the earth to include it

vgpu for for your card should be almost the same as this one.
I watched a vid of a guy pencil modding his Sapphire 5870 and read up on pencil mods.
If I change my mind/ find time to do it later on, do I just take a reading of resistance and keep drawing more graphite on the resistor until I reach say 10% less resistance if I wanted 10% more voltage?

Yes you just shade the resistor to lower resistance
But first you have to find the right resistor to shade.
Hardmodding the card is still the best solution
Friend says pencil mods wear off pretty fast - is that true?
