First time building need help

So I'm thinking about building a pc. Thing is through I've never built one before. I've made a "build" but not sure its good. Also does anyone have tips/tricks on building or on overclocking? I'm not really sure how to overclock. Well this is my "build". Would love to hear what yah have to say about!

Case: Cooler Master Storm Stryker
CPU: Intel Core i5-3570k
MOBO: ASUS P8Z77-V
GPU: ASUS GTX 560 1gb
RAM: Corsair Vengeance 8GB ( 2x4GB )
SSD/HD: Corsair Force Series GT 120GB/ Western Digital Caviar Black 1TB
Cooler: Cooler Master V6 GT
Drive: ASUS 24X DVD Burner
PSU: Corsair HX Series HX750

The only thing I'm for sure on is the case, CPU, and RAM xD.

For the mb you could also use the MSI Z77A-GD55, this way you can save money and you get a very nice mb.
For the GPU I'd go with one from the latest gereration; 7850 or so
Ram looks fine, get a least 1600MHz
Not sure if you benefit much for going with the force GT instead of the normal Force, (please correct me if I'm wrong guys)
PSU is overkill, get a 550 or 650W unit
For tips and tricks: Have you ever heard of Youtube? Tom(timetolivecustoms), Linus(linustechtips, ncixtechtips), singularitycomputers and all these guys make great videos that teach you everything you need to know

Thanks for help! I think I'm sticking with the asus Mobo Heard better things from it. I guess I should get a better GPU. Would a Tx650m 650w be any good? I'm looking for a modular PSU. I've very much heard of youtube use it everyday xD but can;t seem to find "recent" tutorials less then a year old I mean.

I've only used Asus boards so far, without a single problem, so you can't go wrong with the one you've listed. Any Corsair PSU would be a good choice, the TX650m looks really nice, if you want a fully modular unit you have to get a AX series one but they are rather expensive.
If you just need a a build guide it doesn't matter when the video is a year old, here's one for an AMD system but other than the installation of the CPU it's the same for intel: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HIJx6Y3tofg
OC guide for Ivybridge: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HIJx6Y3tofg
OCing is so easy these days, just increase the multiplier and test if it's stable.

I have the deluxe version of that board and it is very good...but...

The lower end versions, I would have to say you're better going for the MSI. Considering the P8Z77-v is a stripped down version of the deluxe and pro, you lose too many features to really make it worth it IMO. Agreed they are reliable and ASUS is a good brand etc...but everyone that comes to these forums looking for a new build on 1155, we say get the MSI. They just give you so many more features for the money, build quality is superb and they are a great price.

The AX series are great as well, and it makes the cables so easy to work with being fully modular. I personally dont like the semi modular psus, but that's up to you. Look at Silverstone Striders as well, they have some very well priced fully modular PSUs:

http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showproduct.php?prodid=CA-231-SV
And they are reliable units too.

I agree with madmarc for the gpu choice - the 7850s are the best mid range - bang for buck cards these days, but if you arent planning to build this any time soon, the GTX 660 series is on it's way. Suppose you could even live off integrated graphics until then if you did want one of these.

what is your budget?
cpu, ram, case and ssd/hdd are really good... like the others already said go for the msi board
psu wise i´d say ax650. cooler maybe the nh-d14(depending on your budget).
if you get the nh-d14 you´ll have to get the low profile rams

Would the ASUS P8Z68-V be any better? Or should I just get the MSI P67A-GD55? Also I think I"m planning to get a Corsair AX650 650W I believe it is fully modular. Would that be able to power it? I won't start buying/building the parts for another 3 months probably. When are the GTX 660's scheduled to release?

I have about $1000-$1300 to spend but I would still love to have good quality for price or bang for buck. Yeah I think I'm going to get an AX650. I've heard of the NH-D14 but not sure if I would get them. I have seen the low profile vengeance and they do look nice.

Forget Z68 and P67 board, they're EOL (end of life), go for an MSI Z77 GD55, imo it's THE best value for money board out there. Also, don't bother with the Cooler Master V6 it's not that good, an NZXT Havik 140 would be much better or an NH-D14 if you wanna spend that little bit more. Also, i'm not sure if the Havik will block the RAM but the D14 definitely will so you probably want to opt for some Vengeance LP RAM or similar low profile RAM just to be extra safe. As for the GPU i'd be tempted to try and squeeze in a 7850 or 7870 into the build

Yeah I think I'm going to get an MSI Z77 GD55. Whats wrongs with the V6 if I may ask?

It's just out dated, and expensive for what it is. The D14 and the Haviks provide far greater cooling performance, and are far quieter.

You get cables in the box to do it, you need to connect them via molex rather than the on board fan headers though - shouldnt be using on board headers either

Ummm, I dont think it does actually...

Whats fans are you thinking of getting, and how many?

I forgot there is a fan controller in the case, so probably doesnt even matter
