first rig for under £1000 inc wc

Hi people im looking for my first rig and im a bit confused about everything and also need a guide for pricing,i know what i want for some of the parts (case,wc,cd drive) but havent a clue on what to get.i wont need loads of hdd space but i do want a ssd
everything included it needs to be under £1000
so far i have got to

so the total including the switch 810 is £427.12
with the bitfenix colossus its £415.12
the rest can go on anything else that is needed to run a decent rig.
if anyone knows any cheaper but still good performance parts please reply,the only must is that its watercooled with a bay res and has a window.

What hardware do you have already in regards to board,chip and GPU?

I recommend C70's to guys starting out right now,Solid case that can support slim 360+240 or a 240+240 combo.

I did for a young lad for this Xmas present..

A good case with options and no plastic,all steel.

I dont have any hardware at all im starting from nothing so need alot of help

Your budget will not cover watercooling,get the rig together to the best of your budget then look at WC in the future.
Dont skimp on parts now just for water,get a H80 or whatever if you are dead set on it,i would say just spend £30 on a aircooler first tho.

Agreed with this. 500 quid is not even going to get you components worth watercooling mate. Best to stay on air for now and just build a pretty high-end rig now. Just that you're building it now doesn't mean you can't change things later.

And swapping out components is a LOT easier when you're still on air...



Edit; That 5450 is not even going to run todays games at high settings, let alone further down the road. Looking at that WC set-up it seems to me that there is only a CPU loop, but you could easily go with an H100i if you do your own build and get a GPU that's a looooottt better

I'd probably go for something along the lines of Z77 M-power/ Z77 Sabertooth / GD-65, i5 3570k, Corsair H100i, HD7950/ GTX670, 8 GB of 1866Mhz RAM, etc...

A case is mainly personal preference, but you should look for one that can fit an H100. Most of todays cases do that though, and brands you generally can't go wrong with are the ones like Corsair, Bitfenix, NZXT, Silverstone, Fractal Design and Cooler Master

I came up with this:



Decided to go with a 670, as an overclocked 670 is just as fast as a 680 and this one comes with a slightly better cooler. Also went for the M-Power board as I really think this is the best Z77 board out there (and I think a lot of people here would agree on that).

I didn't pick a case, as they're something personal and you should just go for what you think looks good (of course it's also got to be at least a bit functional ).

Used the money that I saved on the GPU to add a Samsung 830, 128GB. They're known to be one of the most reliable SSDs on the market together with the Crucial M4 (they cost the same, you can pick whatever brand you prefer).

Went with an ax750 PSU. It's 80+ Gold and fully modular, and also gives you the oppertunity to upgrade to an SLI set-up in the future

Did this on scan.co.uk as it's the only English site I know together with Aria.co.uk :lol:

Edit; Just made an almost identical set-up on Aria (though they don't have an awful lot of stock) and it would save you 20 quid to buy it there. Only compromise is that they don't have the ax750, so you'd have to go with a TX750 V2, which is 80+ Bronze instead of Gold and not modular

Personally, I'd pay extra for a modular one
