First real build - thoughts? :)

Nice to see some good feedback :)

- Having a problem tho, the system has started making a high pitch squaking sound, that changes with the programs open on the screen - If I open WoW for instance and click to another program the squaking sound changes pitch...

Trying to find out which part does it - any suggestions? :)

Hah. Like a hard drive access squeak or a fan bearing squeak?

Have you got any PWM fans that would be varying in speed with load?

It's the Sapphire 7950 as far as I can tell. - If I look in the MSI afterburner it goes up to 99% alone from being at the login screen of wow, and the pitch changes proportionally with the gpu usage % graph. - It's not the fan speed on the grfx, that graph is constant, but the sound changes as the gpu usage % does, so I'll have to go and return this card I guess.

I have not overclocked it in any way no - I just used the afterburner to see the graphs so that I could figure out the problem. The squeaking noise was not present yesterday, it's really loud to the point that I can not accept it.
As mentioned it does not scale with the gpu fan speed, only with the gpu load percentage.

I'll call them tomorrow and I'm hoping that I can just drive down to them and get an exchange (it's an online store) - so that I don't have to wait a week or two to get it exchanged.

Yup, just took the sapphire out and turned it on, launched some games etc and the noise was gone. Or atleast not as bad at all, hard to do a rough judgement atm because I still have that ringing sound in my ears, even after powering off the system ^^' - I'm gonna try and install my old 8800GT in the system tomorrow, just to see if it has anything to do with the power supply powering a graphics card. - Guess this is all part of the fun of building a rig yourself ;)

After some research, it turned out, that the 7950 sapphire OC edition had alot of problems regarding coil whine. Alone searching for "7950 coil whine" on google gives so many hits with the 950 mhz sapphire - So i RMA'ed it and I got a gigabyte 670 instead, super happy! :D

I'm super pleased with the build, performs really really nice! All those shiny games just comes to life, especially when you are used to run around in a blurry/foggy environment due to my old computer ;)

The casefans are audible, not much but might consider throwing in some silent ones if you are doing a build like mine ;>
