Hi guys

First overclock since building my first rig way back about 3 years ago where I successfully managed to OC a Q6600 to 3.4ghz on air.

Just built my latest rig with the following specs...

I7 2600k

P8z68-pro Asus

16gb Vengeance LP

Msi frozr gtx570 oc

Corsair 750 modular enthusiast series

Nzxt Phantom

Noctua Dh-14 cooler

I am looking to overclock to 4.8ghz

Having read a few guides the settings you seem to change in the bios appear to have simplified considerably. I have worked out that I need to adjust the following.

Ai Overclock Tuner - set to manual

Bclk-Peg frequency -set to 100

Memory frequency - set to auto or rated speed

Dram timings - set to manufacturers ratings

Drama command mode - 1t

Load line calibration - Ultra high

CPU voltage - set to manual

CPU voltage - set as desired (max 1.4/1.5)

Dram voltage - set to manufacturers specification

Vccio voltage - 1.0v

Vccsa voltage - 0.9v

Hyper threading - off or on

Is there anything else I have missed before I begin?

I remember overclocking the q6600 there were a lot more features to disable like

CPU spread spectrum

Nb and sb voltage settings

Pci spread spectrum

C1e support

CPU tm function

Have I missed something one these newer machines that I need to enable or disable as so far I seem to need to play around with a lot less in the bios ??????????????????????????????

Many thanks for taking the time to help out!!!!

tbh its a piece of piss mate, just increase the turbo multi and vcore as needed, you should be able to get that speed with around 1.45v if not less.

with HT on thats an obtainable oc with 1.45- 1.5v with HT off its obtainable with a tad lower vcore.

Cool thanks guys :-)

What's considered a fairly safe so to speak voltage for an everyday overclock?

Are many people running 5ghz on air
