First ever overclock lots of questions!

I began with a few popular options on this CPU:

I disable turbo core, and all the other downclocking options from my BIOS.

I set the "multiplier" to manual

I went from the default 16x multiplier to 17.5x for a 3.5Ghz overclock, and have been running for about a week now with no problems.

I have a few questions regarding voltage and bus speed:

I wasn't sure of my default voltage, and I thought my 6th core was having issues running, so I bumped it up to 1.4 without proper knowledge of what this could do and my temps flew up toward 45 idle 65 under load. No good. When is the proper time to bump up voltage? What can higher voltages do for my CPU?

And bus speed, what is the difference (performace wise) between bumping up BUS speeds over clock multiplier?

If you alter bus speed, youll change ram-speed and ht-link and nb speed.

Changing multi only, cpu speed only changes.

1.4v is way to high for 3.5ghz on a 1090t.You are closing in,where you will deterioate cpu,if you run it 24/7.

1.28-1.3v should be enough for 3.5ghz.

Dugdiamond have made a good job for basics oc`ing a p2 1090t.Find it and read it through, there is some good hints how to do it.

Always have your manual within reach
