First Budget Custom Rig

Hey guys, I have finally decided to build my own custom gaming rig, as I normally use prebuilt systems handed down to me. Although I have a fair amount of experience with rebuilding computers, I've never built one from scratch, so I thought I should post here to see what you guys think of what I have so far, or if you could save me some money.

Graphics: XFX Double D Radeon 7950 - £219.95
PSU: 600W Corsair Builder Series 600CX - £52.32
CPU: AMD (Piledriver) FX-6300 - £100.99
Case: Corsair Carbide 200R - £47.94
RAM: 8GB (2x4gb) G.SKILL RipjawsX 1600MHz - £49.99
Mobo: GIGABYTE GA-990FXA-D3 AMD 990FX - £87.59

In an attempt to save additional money, I havn't included optical/HDD's in the build as I was thinking of using my 2x1TB HDD's in RAID0 and the optical drive from my current PC. As the mobo has 4 RAM slots, I decided I would go with 2x4GB sticks, so if I ever wanted to, I could upgrade to 16GB in the future. I also intend to use the turbo feature on the CPU, so not sure whether I will need better cooling or the stock fan would suffice.

I'd say my budget is probably about £600-700, although I may be able to go slightly over if need be.

what exactly is your budget? Your wasting money on that fx-6300, an i3 is a better option. Everything else(besides mobo) looks good:)

Yeah, I did a little more research on the 6300 and found out it wasn't actually that great. Budget is around £600-700, may see about an i5.

are you going to be doing any overclocking??

i managed to spec this for you >>

you could probably add a 120gb ssd to that also if needed a decent aio watercooler i.e corsair h80i /h90 but it will take you over the £700 budget.

the shinobi is the same price as the corsair 200r i bought a shinobi last week epic case is epic all i can say about it :D

Yes, I have intentions for overclocking. I orginally did have a 120gb SSD in there but I decided to take it out as I decided that I wasn't in dire need of one, although I may purchase one in the future.

I like the look of the shinobi case, and that's a real good setup for the price.

Yeah, I can probably extend the budget a bit for watercooling, would make overclocking a lot better. The 7950 is still a bit of a temporary decision atm, not sure whether to change it.

You got some nice specs there m8, very similar to my own build, I posted a album with pictures of my build, go check them out if you want. When it comes down to the 7950 gpu from which I have to, I must admit that I wish I saved up some more money and bought a Nvidia 680 gpu, but thats me. Maybe you should wait with buying the new computer until the new Nvidia graphicscards is released later this month, because they will be amazing!

if you are going to water-cool, look to make sure that card has a waterblock option.
a couple of peeps have had block issues with XFX cards. depending on date of
manufacture or PCB version. you might look to a reference card if h2o cooling.
easier chance to get a block.

Thanks, I'll look further into a waterblock for the card. Wouldn't like to have it all set up and find out I can't actually cool it :(

i dont think his budget would currently allow a full water cooling loop why i reccomended just getting a corsair h80 or h90 just for the cpu :D
