Firefox REALLY Slow Startup

After moving from Chrome to Firefox I've noticed that startup times for the browser and around 10 seconds compared to Chromes instant startup.

I'm running the standard version of Firefox from the Mozilla site with no addons or extensions.

Anyone know anything that could be causing this ?

Any info is appreciated :)

I used to get sick of this too, I found that by setting application priority to high and shifting the cache file to a separate drive solved it.

  1. Type about:config into the location bar and press enter
  2. Accept the warning message that appears, you will be taken to a list of preferences
  3. Right-click somewhere in the list and select "New > String"
  4. For the name of the preference type browser.cache.disk.parent_directory
  5. For its value type the path to where you want to store the cache
  6. Next locate the preference browser.cache.disk.enable, it must be set to true, if it is not, double-click on it to change its value

Firefox is going through a bad patch of updates. It happens from time to time. I use Opera instead for the time being as Chrome is poop. Opera is suprisingly decent, its a bit daft, but decent.
