after about 6 weeks (since I don't get as much time as I used to with a 13 month old.)

All eventually started coming together today

Leak testing tomorrow!

Looking very nice M8, i do like the case, i helped 4Qman with some bits on his and it was so nice to work with a quality case.

leak testing completed and ok.

May take the fan controller from this box

but it will only have the rad fan on it unless I add a case fan for the hdd's

The v2000 is the one i ment, althought the other case is nice aswell. The plate where the psu is (on the v2000) is a bit unusual is that a mod you made for the case or did it come with it?

I made it. The standard one has the psu at the bottom and 2x80mm fan grills above it. I needed to house the prommie's 120mm fan.

It's made out of 1mm steel for the moment as I couldn't get my hands on suitable (free) alu. I will probably remake it when I do. I haven't devided if I am having a window yet so I will probably use what I cut out for that.

You might want to put a sheet of steel or somthing on the bottom of the case under the prom aswell. It will stop the bowing of the case in the future as I see it's already starting to from those pics.

I do have a sheet of steel under the prommie. pic

The sheet is bolted to the chasis and there is a layer of accoustic foam between to get rid of any vibrations

I think it's just the angle of the camera but I will look more closely tonight. Not noticed it "in the flesh"

That's just the camera lens making it look curved, the top and sides will also look slightly curved ;)

So, I asked this in the other thread but to no joy.

Where can I get a longer lcd lead? I really don't fancy soldering 32 little wires.

That and mounting the lcd is all that's left to do :)

Hey Inspector-71, where did you get your fan controller from? I got one too, only it is the twin colour led model, Sunbeam Rheobus is its proper name I think. Are you still using it in your PC V2000 mod?

Also, I bought the exact same case as above, Lian-Li PC 65 but instead of a plain clear window they included one with a hole grille in the bottom left hand side of the window which is absolutely no ferkin use to me at all because it's for my Mach II mod. I don't know what Lian-Li are playing at these days putting a new version windowed panel in with a soon to be obsolete case and which is meant for the PC 60 Plus (II) series cases amongst others. I'm trying to get them to swap it for an original.

Anyway I think your mod is very good as it goes. Why didn't you just use the PC 65 sat above the Mach II? :)

i got the fan controller from bowlers computer fair.

i din't use the pc65 as i thought it was too cramped for the water cooling and all the drives.

Oh right, Bowlers in Manchester - I'll have to pay a visit there myself sometime. I hear the place is huge and so it should have what I'm looking for.

As regards the PC 65 and Phase and Water Cooling setup, yes you do really need to be looking at the Lian Li full tower range of cases but if you could position the radiator and fans outside of the PC 65 then I think you could get that particular setup to work. I've been toying with the idea myself using the NFII DFI Lanparty Ultra B.

Do you need the PC 65 windowed panel then? I could offer you the silver one that I described in my earlier post in exchange for it? Have a think on it hey! :)

Laters....

bowlers isn't that great tbh - more of a market for toys and phones, console mods etc than a serious pc fair anymore. Any should do really, I just removed the face from mine and then drilled holes in the bezel

I've sold the pc-65 now but even when I had it on air cooling with a single hdd, cd and full sized gfx card it is a bit pokey. Increase it to 4 hdd's and some of the bigger cards and it gets cramped. I do like a big case though.

Hi again, you've put me off from paying the place a visit now, LOL! It doesn't matter, in fact it's a good thing to know.

Regarding the fan controller, are you saying that it originally had a different facia/bezel and possibly with twin coloured leds for each fan? If so what did you do with the leds? Simply cut them off or de-solder them?

Yes I know all about the Lian-Li mid tower cases, I have the PC 60 Plus II, the PC 65, and the PC V1000. The PC 65 is for my Mach II after the Chilly 1 head mod is complete and the PC V1000 is lying idle ATM. I originally bought it with these great visions of grandeur but things didn't quite work out so I'm looking for some kind of use for it.

I know that for my NF4 DFI Expert watercooling rig I'll be using a full tower, either the PC 75 or the PC 7077, the layout and placement of psu, radiator and fans and other components are just perfect in either of these 2 full tower cases. I won't make such a temporary expensive bad purchase again! LOL

Well, it's that time again to offload some of my gear on eBay. So that is what I will be doing for the next few days or so. I wish I could work in IT but I have an elderly parent to care for so my time and hands are rather tied.

Thanks for your replies anyway! :)

yes it did have a different face but the rheobus didn't have any led's. I know the one you mean. my mate has it and he drilled extra holes for the led's to pop through and they looked fine (pics)

A-HA! Methinks I've seen that case before in an auction on eBay....it has a Mach II built into the case on the bottom deck in much the same way as yours in the PC V2000. The handle on top of it is huge, right? Like 12" long...LOL Small world innit!

yes, it's my mates box. the case is an older pc-70 but he pretty much rebuild it, thats why the layout is v1000 style. I don't think they were out when he originally did it, would've saved him a lot of work.
