Finally going to upgrade..

I like the OCZ stuff better :)

Have heard mixed reviews on the Geil stuff. Some people boast having massive overclocks on it, but others say it either only just runs at spec or it barely goes over spec.

GSKill stuff is good aswell, altho it seems a bit pricey most places atm in comparison to the OCZ.

Hey hey hey.... You're not supposed to come to America and not tell any of us Americans :p

What part of the country?

hehe was going to but ran outa time. Im in San Diego :) its nice here. About to go out and Denny's for pankcakes, yummy. Does anyone live in San Diego?

Btw ham my brothers 22" widescreen Viewsonic is sooooo nice. His 7900GT handles it very well @ 1680x1050. I showed him some of my awp skillz, he was impressed lol.

Nice link Eq, Reps coming your way.

Still think I will get the Gigabyte though as its a £20 saving and supposed to overclock better.

Not sure if it overclocks better tho  I've seen loads of people say their P5B's hit 500 with no problems. I think I've seen just as many people saying they had to do the VDroop mod on their DS3's to get stable fsb over 450, altho will you be expecting to get 500FSB?

Not sure if anyone on here has (or has had) either boards to provide a comparison or not

I am just going off what I see on OcUK, everyone over there seems to run them and gets over 3ghz on their E6300 without any problems.

When the core2duo's were released they were very cheap in comparison to the P5B. So I think it was the board to get for modding and overclocking.

atm there's only <£20 difference between the two.

I think when they were released the P5B-Deluxe was £150 and the DS3 was £100 or similar as I was looking at getting one or the other.

I notice there is a DS3P tho, which is a newer revision. Supports 1333mhz cpu's apparently :) I didn't even know there was a new revision tbh, altho looking on XS there are problems with overclocking on it and it only has 1 BIOS rev.

I notice on OcUK they are comparing the P5W-DH with the DS3P tho for FSB which is obviously different as the i965P can get a lot higher FSB than the i975

Not sure if it's possible for the e4300's to get to that sort of FSB without any problems or not on air tho? :)

Hypers under water.

Stick with the P5B-Delux sam, and hope you get a rev2. These are tried and tested, or you could get somthing cheap (ASRock 4core-awsome board @ £40:D)as the release of DFIs infinity 965 board is imminent. Get that then overclock.

I had a revision 1 P5B deluxe and it died. I now have 2 rev 2 P5B Deluxe boards after first was RMA'd, and they are solid as. Recommended

Ok, the place where I am ordering from only had the E4300 in stock or for £21 more I could get the E6400 which is on special offer.

What should I go for?

Thanks, Sam

So you dont think the E6400 at £111 is better than the E4300 at £90.

I am on a bit of a budget so if the E4300 is going to be fine then thats good enough for me ;)

Well you want at least 3ghz. 6400 is a x8 multi, meaning if you get a unnaturally duff clocking component you got less of a chance of getting there.

+ the obvious saving yourself £21. Could get yourself an SATA DVD-RW with that.
