Finally giving my build some dignity

For a while now (about 2 months) my build has consisted of this:

Which for obvious reason was, how shall I say, sub-optimal.

What you see there is:

>An MSI Z68-GD80 motherboard (B3)

>An i7 2600K processor

>8 gigs of Corsair 1600mhz ram

>A Kingston 120 gig SSD

>1TB western digital intellipower hard drive for storage

>A 1000W OCZ 80plus gold psu

>And a Samsung bluray drive.

You may notice two rather key componants were missing, the graphics card and the case. Well, yesterday I got paid so guess what?

I fell in love with the white 600T the moment I saw it :3

First things first, power supply. Maybe a little overkill but I will probably want to SLI things up in the future.

Then came the task of transferring across the motherboard and everything attached to it (before anyone mentions it, I flipped the fan at the back of the case to make it an intake and give the CPU some cool air. Plus I couldn't be arsed to turn the cpu cooler around; that thing is a pain to install.).

120 gig SSD and 1TB western digital storage harddrive went in next.

Slapped in the bluray drive.

Then fitted the GPU and wired everything up.

The lighting in place

A shot of my piss poor attempt at cable management.

And finally everything in place and closed up

Any feedback/comments would be appreciated.

A big improvement over your original ghetto build

Personally I would of gone for a Corsair PSU, OCZ stuff tends to break. Also, I would have gotten an external BD drive so it can be hidden away when not in use I think optical bays spoil a case,

Still looks good though and you have done a nice job with the cable management

Ghetto builds ftw!(only saying that because mine is in pieces all over the table at the moment, whilst I sort my case)

That looks very nice in its new home

Yeah I went for the PSU because it was about £30 off at the time. I agree about the drive kinda spoiling the look too, think i'll pick up an external bluray drive when I can afford one, though they seem to be about twice as expensive for a decent one.

I've got the cpu running at 4.2ghz just because I can do that in windows and still have it drop down to 1.5 when at idle. The lightning's running perfectly at 900mhz with no voltage tweaking because really at the moment I don't need anything faster than that. So with these kind of "entry level" overclocks my 3DMark 11 score last night was p7500 which i'm happy with.

So quick update, I bought an iiyama 24" monitor and am now all set up in my uni room. Woot.

Also I started folding for Redline.

More minor changes

Moved the SSD and whipped out one of the hard drive cages for better airflow (I love how easy Corsair make it to do smart things like this)

And I was getting tired of looking at the unsightly specifications sticker on the top of my psu so I temporarily blue-tacked over it the first thing I had to hand that was roughly the right size. No judgement please.

And as a closing thought I've been thinking of adding more lighting to bring that extra touch of epicness, but the problem is I sleep in the same room as my computer and I leave it on and folding overnight (the light it throws out at the moment is bad enough).

Lmfao at spencer being on ur psu lmfao

Also y does everyone hate optical drives. I cant see anything wrong with them that makes people insist on external
