Finalising build

This would be my first custom, and it's piggybacking off a donation of a q6600 and GA-P43T-ES3G, with 4gb of DDR3 1066mhz CAS8 RAM from a friend - this will be upgraded to a 2500k depending on prices at IB release. Budget's on a per-component basis.

Case: Fractal Arc Midi

GPU: Powercolor HD 7850 2gb or ASUS HD 6850 1gb

RAM: Mushkin/G.skill/xxxx 1600mhz CAS9 8gb underclocked, latency lowered

Screen: LG IPS225V or Dell U2212HM

PSU: 750w Antec HCG

The mobo only has 2 case fan headers, so cooling will be worse than normal stock Arc Midi.

7850 could be matched by the q6600 if the proc is OC'd. What about at stock? (Because of only 2 case fans, stock CPU cooler, 5 year old CPU...) Just go for the 6850?

That PSU is 300w over full load at stock, and 200w over OC'd specs. Presumably though, there's no reason not to get it?

Grateful for any suggesions or opinions. Thanks again OC3D peeps

Hey, I don't know much about your specific processor and how it will perform and such, but I do know that you can have more than 2 fans if your mobo only has 2 fan headers, you can connect them directly to the PSU with a adapter that look like this.

Most fans when brought come with one, "normally only a single female molex to 1x 3-pin male with a male molex so you can still add more molex powered items to the same connector"

the arc midi comes with a fancontroller for 3 fans anyway so you can hook up 5 case fans in total without adapters

Thanks very much to the both of you. My noobishness is definitely shining through. I knew about the fan controller but for some reason thought it would connect to the motherboard... yeah. In retrospect makes 0 sense

K, final decisions made. List:

Case: Fractal Arc Midi

GPU: HD 7850 2gb

RAM: Mushkin 1600mhz CAS9 8gb

Screen: Dell U2212HM

CPU cooler: Noctua NH-D14

Mouse: CM Storm Spawn

Mousepad: Steelseries QCK+

Bought the PSU, an Antec HCG 750w. All to go with the Q6600 CPU and GA-P43T-ES3G donation from my awesome friend. Reusing random Dell keyboard, assorted HDDs, and an X-Fi Xtreme Audio.

All good to go? Thanks.
