Fermi detonator must end.

Sadly, i am gaming on very high resolutions now, upto 4K...

Fermi is great, it handles most games even at 4K res, but it is time to set it a side soon, and embrace newer technology.

I have some thoughts for what i would like though.

It will be said that i am a motherboard enthusiast (price dependent), i love a board with all the bells and whistles, so with that said, i also like to use it's capabilities.

I do a lot of encoding and video editing, so a strong CPU is a must have really, and CUDA does speed things up massively, one reason why i stayed with Fermi for so long.

I am a minimum FPS whore, i hate sharp dips in FPS, i MUST have stable frame-rates.

I am also quite the overclocker....

This is the build i have in mind. (subject to change if anything is better)

Ok, i understand i have not jotted down any GPU's, this is where i am stuck, GCN is better at higher res vs Kepler, but i really like using CUDA for my work.....

Any help is great guys :)

Ok so other than the 3770kand a new gpu I really don't see you need anything else? You already have the ram, motherboard, ssd, hdd and power supply. As for the gpu, I say 7970

When i buy new parts, i go all out, and the i5 is only really geared for gaming... great chip, but i want more.

So moving along, i may just wait for GTX 7 series, see what they have to offer for GPU, and maybe use 1 480 until they come out...

I know you want more, that is why I said "other than the 3770k and the gpu"

You already have a great psu, ssd and hdd, and the motherboard isn't bad either, so why do you need to upgrade?

I want all new stuff, plus if i am to utilize SLi or CFX, i want all bandwidth available, this means PCI-E GEN 3.0

Currently there is no cards that can utilize 3.0, but even if you insist on getting a new mobo, you can not deny that you certianly do not need a new psu, hdd and ssd

I want my build to stay as it is, i will give it away or sell it at some point, i like to not use older parts...

Sounds silly, it is the way i work though.

Gen 3.0 is not anything significant now, but when 7xx and higher cards release, who knows...

And remember, it is going to be big Kepler, not just a refresh of existing GPU's.

Hell, the Tesla line show what we can expect in form of gaming GPU specs, the core count is ludicrously higher, and memory bandwidth will exceed current Gen stuff, all of this tallies up in SLi and CFX systems...

TESLA K20

- 2496 CUDA Cores
- 706MHz Core Clock
- 320Bit GDDR5
- 5GB Memory

K20x is even larger, with more cores and 384-Bit memory interface at 5.2GHZ 6GB GDDR5

may i ask how/why you're gaming at 4k? (eg what screen are you using) (feel free to remove your double post too ;))

I can't show it you, but i can show you the resolution being used in games etc, i have my reasons.

It is also not purchased...

But hey, here is one vid i did of 4K 3180x2160 however..

Your OP said 'sadly i'm gaming in 4k'... so could you explain how/why ?
and what screen your're doing this on?

Well, i do not exactly have to play at 4K, but having the GPU power to do that would be nice...

I worded it incorrectly, my bad.
