fcking card not up to scratch

ok well i got ati tool today and my memory is not clocked where it should be, it should be according to ati at 600mhz. it was only at like 250... i cant take it back or anything.. the core is up to speed tho what do you suggest use ati tool and take it straight to 600mhz?

What card is it, what are the specs supposed to be, and what does ATI Tool say it's at.

Depending on the card it may have DDR on it which means ATI Tool could be displaying the non doubled speed perhaps? Which if it's at 250 would still put it 100mhz below the 600mhz u claim it should be @.

Give us some specs and stuff :)

ati radeon gecube 9800xt core speed 500mhz stock, 256mb ddr at 600mhz

is there any other ati tool i could use to check it?

okk well ive had a look at a few things and its still at 250 mhz... should i just overclock it and hope for the best? or what

Notice how the cards with denser ram modules (same amount of chips, double the amount of ram) have slower RAM clocks.

yeah well anyway last night i sent it straight to 365mhz and hmmm i wet my pants when i thought i screwed the card up... but its all good now :)

Hehe thats something i would never do. Overclock my card that high. I mean programs can be wrong (And very often are wrong). I guess you have a "Lower Clock" version because of the 256 like the others said. And then 500 MHZ (250 x2) makes sense again doesnt it :D

Actually, I think the 256MB version has higher mem speeds to make up for the DDR2, it's only about 20MHz faster though.

Sure about that ? I mean we are talking over a "older" card here....

I would have never heard of higher speed by more RAM.

But if it is like you said... do you have any ideas how to get it to a normal level :D

I was thinking of the wrong card! The 9800 Pro was what I was thinking of.. On that the 128MB version has DDR RAM and the 256MB version is DDR2, to make up for DDR2's latency they gave it a higher clock speed.

i hope you are taking into account DDR...DOUBLE data rate..so times your clocks by two and you have your manufacturer mem speed...some programs read it differently..but it looks like u just got one hell of a oc on ur mem lol

Heh, you would not like to meet a friend of mine. Deemed it a reasonable idea to overclock his 6600's DDR to a little over 1Ghz. Least he could laugh about it; the card actually survived. :D amusing to rub it in about my own card reaching 960 before serious issues... (6800, not 600)

harmonicgen007, what speed is it at now? My 9800 (Pro) was run at 800Mhz... I'm a little confused, heheh.
