so the point of this is to see who has the fastest start up time bios time dose'nt count towrds the time right now im at a snails pace 46 seconds. this is most likely going to get deleted. lets be good sports and be honest. any os can try.

I'm booting to Desktop in roughly 15 seconds. That's only from counting in my head tho. I'll definitely reboot later and measure the time.
Have Win 8.1 as OS and I boot from SSD (840 Pro 512GB ). Also have it set up so that Windows logs me in automagically so I don't have to type my password.

I'll edit this post once I have a precise measurement.

Edit: Accurate measurement says 19.53 seconds. That is how long my monitor took from off to showing my desktop. I'm sure I was in the OS sometime around the 17 second mark, but my old ASUS Monitor is a bit slow in switching on from an off state ;)

Edit 2: Time measurement was from the point I pushed the on button to the point I could see my wallpaper displayed.

Edit 3: I'm saying I was on Desktop around the 17 second mark, because I can hear from the coil whine. I don't know why but coil whine is extremely pronounced on my PC. I can turn off the monitor and I can still hear what the monitor is displaying. (Well not accurately of course, but it's easy to distinguish between dominant colors. So if most of my display is white for example it'll have a very high coil whine, when most if it is blue, it'll be lower etc.)

That's kinda hard to measure if your monitor can't keep up ;) Everything on my desktop is loaded pretty much instantly after login is complete, but my monitor switches on only after that happens, because it takes so long. So I have no way of telling when my PC went from BIOS to Full Desktop, unless I measured reboot time, not cold boot.
