Fast But Quiet, Is It Possible?

Hello All

I have recently been looking at the WD Raptor drives but have been told they are kind of loud which I dont want in my current quiet system. But this hasnt put me off finding a fast small drive to run my games and windows off. I currently have a Samsung Spinpoint 160gb which I would keep as a backup hdd to store everything else on. Can anyone give me any reccomendations for a drive that is a bit faster than your average drive but still quiet. It can be anything from IDE to Sata.

Why don't you grab yourself two smaller capacity Hitachi Deskstars and put them in RAID 0? Silent but very very fast

Yeah, I have a Hitachi Deskstar in my spare rig and it is the quietest HDD I've ever worked with. If I have it on silent mode in Acoustics Management, I have to FEEL it with my hand and stick my head next to it to even pick up the noise from it loading.

its even MORE silent than my seagate 7200.9 is

im using dual raptors in raid and i dont hear them unless i open my case when im playing a game or defraging.
