Far Cry 2 - major disapointment.

Just got it myself, fairly enjoyable so far but really the story doesn't seem as compelling as it should do. Graphics are nice and the world is fairly fun to explore. Feels a little consoley to me though. Which is not something I like!

Going to grab fallout 3 when I get the chance, been hooked on FO2 for weeks now.

Its a "ok" game. Can see it getting boring quite quick though. Another great expected game turned into a mass produced One-button-does-everything game.

To me a MAJOR let down

Started playing it yesterday and gotta say I'm loving it tbh. Graphics are top notch imo, best out there bar Crysis, and the fire is so sweet, I just love setting off bush fires and watching them spread out around trees and then engulf them in flames.

AI isn't too bad either, like the fact that they will crawl to cover when hit and surprise you later, although there are a few bugs when they don't seem to see you at close range sometimes. The story and missions do seem a bit crap, but then again this is offset for me by the game's atmosphere. From the opening driving sequence, I really felt like I was in Africa. Not had atmosphere as good as that since Bioshock.

One thing that is a let down is the lack of variety in car models etc, but I guess that's just me being picky, since the weapons are so good. Also the first game I've played without a crosshair, just using ironsides to get accuracy, makes it seem more real to me.

Optimisation seems pretty good to me. Running on an 8800GT 256, with all settings at "Very High" the only time I notice slowdown is when I look up at sun or something bright and the HDR takes a moment to do it's thing.

And last but not least, a screenie :D

Has anyone seen the Farcry-Movie yet? I think it can only be bad since Til Schweiger is playing the main role.

Got it today, had really high hopes for it. Read a couple of reviews, all were very positive and frankly it's a let down.

The graphics are good, not great but pretty good. The shooting, explosions, all fantastic.

But so many flaws. The storyline is utterly pointless. Every mission involves going to a place and killing everyone there, essentially. Nearly all of these places look the same.

The map is huge and you can go anywhere. All this means is you'll get a mission and it'll be on the other side of the map. You drive for about 10minutes. This consists of driving through the same scenery then getting attacked at a bridge/checkpoint. Kill everyone, drive on, repeat ad naseum. Oh, and then everyone respawns when you apss by 3 minutes later *sigh*

Am I the only one finding this very boring?

I toyally agree with with sjek on this one, its very impressive graphics wise but the gameplay is so repetative, every 2 seconds you come across a guard post and all you need to do is step out your van *snipe, snipe, snipe* back into the van onto the next guard post.

Most of this game is spent driving from one place no another which gets very annoying.

Sometimes you can't see whos shooting at you as the areas are so vast the enemy can be far away in bushes sniping away at you and it's almost impossible to see them.

Right enough i've been playing this game everyday, it's good fun blowing up and shooting people constantly and I got it free with my Graphics Card so i'm not gonna complain much if its a terrible game :P
