Fan Cables

Hi I'm wondering if you can help?

I've recently added a Noctua Focused Flow to my side pannel of my case which has a 4 Pin mount, at the top of my case I have two other noctua fans to help with cooling.

Recently I added a two way splitter cable with a Fan Mount to help to run these two fans.

But I've ran into a snag where I can't get my side fan working. My current motherboard only has two official Fan Headers.

What Cables do I need to help these 3 fans work?

Thanks
Rob

You can get molex and sata power head adapters to fan head connectors which will then run them at 12v unless you then put 7v or 5v reducers on them or invest in a fan controller hope this helps.
Also running more and more fans off of 1 connector will reduce the power being given to each fan so unless running into a fan controller which is powered direct from your psu :)

When I am running fans from the molex connectors, I swap the wires about so that the fans get fed 6v instead of 12v, no converters necessary.

Yes the simplest would be molex or sata power to fan header, or put the two fans of the same size onto a splitter and then that only uses 1 header on your mobo so your larger fan had its own header.

You can then use your bios to run the fan speeds.

Or just put them all on molex and run them at max

and the volts are 12v, 5v and 3.3v. with out using reducers

:) sorry I thought it was 6v, don't know why I even thought that. 5v it is :)

As i said before it all depends on what your after and you will get different results.

Fan spliter:

Molex to fan:

Sata to fan:

Or depending on how you like your pc to be, fan controllers:

Not sure what you wanted linked but theres some bits to look at.

It was only 1 volt not a biggie i have seen some people use resistors to bring it down to 6v for air flow specifics, at uni. :)

Its up to you as i showed you, there was many options you could use the end of a sata chain if you had one, which is why i showed both. :)
If they are running to loud or fast you can just get inline reducers.

Well if you ran one for a HDD on that sata power cable from the psu you might have a spare link rather than unbundle what cables you have run, i think your PSU is non-modular anyway so you have all the cables there either way.

Your fans will work also if you have a local Pc place or maplin they will stock it.
Just at maplin unless they updated their range from 10 months ago i think the molex to fans where 3 pin fan not 4 so your headers wont fit. But dont hurt to check

I did say maplin only had 3 pin ... he needs educating lol...
But tbh if you dont care about PWM you can plug it into a 3 pin header.
Just snap the side it would snag on and you will be fine using it... not pretty but will work.
