Fallout 3 and new vegas

I have issues when playing either of these games it will run fine for say 5-60 mins then just freeze up, then when i re enter it lasts 2 mins and does it again. i know my pc can handle it,
i have read somewhere that its an issue with 64 bit windows.
can someone give me some advice please as i love these games on console and would love them more on here

If you don't MOD it:
Ensure you have latest drivers for your graphics card.
Ensure you have the latest patch for the game (New Vegas patch 1.4.0.525).
If neither of the above work re-install the game.

If you MOD it:
Make sure you have NVMM (New Vegas Mod Manager).
Make sure you have placed any mods in the correct directory.
Disable all mods and see if it runs OK.

If non of the above work's go to http://forums.nexusmods.com/ and ask.

Nearly two years now since i last played. I'll have to get back and get some new MODS added and play the game from the start again. It's epic!

yeah thats why i have them on here
completed both on xbox now i wanna play in high res lol

My mate set his to run with only 2 cores and his stopped crashing. I'm unsure how to do it as mines always worked perectly but maybe a quick google about disabling cores for the game would help.

yeah they said something about going into the boot up system and telling it to use 32-bit drivers but im worried it maybe bottle neck my machine... im more a hardware and tweeking person when it comes to games i dont mod or anythnig like that
