* Improved Windows installer with support for Windows XP, Vista, 2008 and Windows 7.

* 64-bit OS-X install package. (32-bit in the works).

* Debian/Ubuntu and RedHat/Fedora/CentOS 32-bit and 64-bit Linux packages.

* Low priority background operation has very little impact on your computers usability. You should hardly notice Folding@home is running when using other applications.

* A more compatible and stable 3D protein viewer with several view modes, rotation, zoom, online help and interpolated protein animations.

* Separate but integrated console client (FAHClient), user interface (FAHControl) and 3D protein viewer (FAHViewer).

* Novice, Advanced & Expert user interface modes. (See drop down list in FAHControl.)

* Support for more than one Folding Slot (UNI, SMP or GPU).

* Ability to monitor, configure and control many remote folding clients from a single computer.

* Very low CPU overhead for FAHClient, FAHControl and FAHViewer. 3D viewer overhead can be minimized by disabling rotating and protein animation.

* Single client for normal (Uniprocessor), SMP (Multiple CPUs) and GPU (Graphics Processors) folding.

I just want to highlight a few common questions that a lot of people will have:

* This is a new client, not new FahCores. With the exception of FahCore_16, you'll still get assignments of the same projects and will earn exactly the same PPD.

* FAHViewer only works with FahCores which produce a current.xyz file, so for most people it will show a demo protein.

* Third party monitoring programs such as HFM and FahMon and FCI have not yet been updated to work with V7.

* If you configure a Windows service in Win7/Vista, GPUs cannot fold. (Limitation by Microsoft).

* New WUs will be downloaded not long before the current WU finishes; That WU will start processing while the previous results are being uploaded.

* A "slot" is a new concept probably best defined by an example. If you have been running several V6 clients on a single OS, you will now be running one FAHClient with several slots.

* You will probably never use a command-line parameters. With FAHControl, you can change your configuration as needed.

* The more complex your installation, the more you'll need to read the documentation.

Awesome, looks like a few new good features. The part in bold is brilliant as well. Imagine how much more work they will get in across F@H from that simple little change.

Does this work with ATI cards? I assume it will still need new WUs to be able to get the performance boost they talked about. This also looks like one client for everything? No more GPU client and SMP client?

thats awsome like blah said just shaving them extra 30secs ish accross the whole folding world would be epic

Just installed it and have started a WU on my 6850 but it's not telling me my PPD it just says unknown. I will keep checking to see if it changes, it's still using 25% CPU thogh

Good question. I know v7 is supposed to have better ATI support, but I have not seen or read anything about it yet.

30 seconds...or 30 minutes if you are running bigadv

not quite yet

, the new OpenCL core (FahCore16) for the ATI cards is next on the list. So it's not implemented in this release yet, however it's coming soon

yep me too, I have to get a macbook for my education, and they've just switched to ATI GPU's so this couldn't have come at a better time

So FAH, so good, SMP finally working stable on my machine. But I don't know what or why, but my GTX560 cannot sneak past 15,000 PPD recently after being able to tease 20,000 for a week or two. And it's back to 1 minute 30 second TPF, instead of 40-50 seconds.

I would say its gone from the 9xx WU (20000PPD) to the normal 68xx WU (15000PPD)

OR (a big factor as well!) the SMP takes some GPU cycles with it...

with this client both of my cores of my dual core cpu are showing 100% all the time with it running

but the computer dosent seem eny slower when just browsing the net or runing other small programs
