Extremely low budget build

Hey guys/gals my friend is looking for a computer for under £150. I know everyone here's used to the watercooled, top notch stuff but there's not much options he's got so any advice would be appreciated.

The plan was to pick out a prebuilt system (£110-£120) and add a GT520 to it, it's quite difficult finding anything that fits the budget so if you see anything or know how we can get OEM parts really cheap, again let us know.

The only requirements is that it supports HDMI and can run games on low settings at 20fps+, nothing demanding.

I don't expect any replies but if there is any, thanks!

http://www.novatech.co.uk/barebonebundles/ some nice barebones there oki some are over the budget but worth saving up for...

Actually what games is he running?.

As Iv bought my self a e350 motherboard 2gb of ram and antec isk 300 150 watt case and it came to just under £140 I already had a hardrive and win 7 and it can play games pretty well on low to medium settings obv no battlefeild 3....got bored took of windows 7 stuck on linux upgraded ram to 4gb and use it for playing minecraft and diablo and command and conquer series.

he could use a online service like ONLIVE and pay £6 a month to play over a hundred games for free.

That budget is tight. Dunno if that is even possible tbh.

My best suggestion would be to try and get a 775 system second hand.

Pretty close to budget, but no OS software or dvd incl.(aria pc super specials)

Found a cheaper psu: 400w

Forgot the hdd, so thats going to cost some extra...suggest getting a second hand hdd.

A system with AMD E-350/450 could be cheap also. Aria didnt have any cheap integrated cpu on mb.

Yeah id say try to steal some secondhand parts. That is a very tight budget, it might be better to save for a bit longer.

I just built a 550$(with operating system) tower that runs Skyrim on medium, but that's a fair bit more than 150 pounds Maybe an AMD A6 would do the trick? I have built 2 low budget systems, but i always insist on a decent motherboard and a decent PSU. If you try to get a pre-built system and add a gt520 to it you are going to get screwed on the motherboard and PSU for sure.

My advice is to save money and get something that is actually well made. If you want a parts list on the system that i built that runs Skyrim on medium high with good FPS let me know, and you can look up what it would be in pounds.

Another issues is HDD prices, they are still at about 150% their normal prices. A caviar blue 500 GB is still like 20 pounds more than it should be.

This is very tight - so I would agree with everyone else and say save a bit longer. At this price bracket AMD are your best bang for buck

If you could increase the budget to £200, then this could be the start of a good budget system:-

ASUS F1A75-M - £60

AMD Llano A6-3500 - £55

G.Skill RipJawsX 4GB (2x2GB) 1600MHz DDR3 - £20

430W Corsair Builder Series - £36

That comes in at £171, you need to add a drive & case though. The reason I chose that ram is that Llano benefits from fast ram.

Hello! Thanks for all the advice + help however i already have a HDD, and if you have any suggestions for a build when my budget will be around £190-200 then that will be greatly appreciated. Thanks again!

Thats sweet. I would notch it up a bit then and follow Sheroos advice. You only need to find a cheap case then, and perhaps a dvd if that is needed.

Good luck with build.

Hello! Thanks for your help! i already have a dvd drive and HDD and in around a month or so i should have around £171 so all i need to do is find an adequate case for around £10-15 and i will be sorted!

I really can't use ONLIVE my internet makes me feel like i'm living in the stone age!

The only reason I went for the A3500 over the A3300 is that it has better on board graphics. But if you go for the M/B & PSU from Azurite recommendations you get:-

Gigabyte GA-A55M-S2HP - £51.59

AMD Llano A6-3500 - £55.14

G.Skill RipJawsX 4GB (2x2GB) 1600MHz DDR3 - £20.39

500W Cooler Master Elite - £26.39

£153.51 + whatever case you want.

I'm liking this, actually pretty damn good for such a low price. Might be able to unlock a core on it and overclock it.

i word of warning the 500w cooler master elite psu is noisy, the fan can ramp up to unbearable levels even in an idle scenario. i know this from experience, go for a better psu
