External Hard Drives

Hey, I am currently looking for a desktop external hard drive with around 1-2TB storage space and also a portable hard drive with around 500GB-1TB storage space. What would be the makes to look at and what are peoples general opinions on certain ones?

for external I would get a HDD/SDD dock this way all you have to add is drives and they can be any size or type generally I have a dual dock that I use now for swapping out hdd's for portable drives I like the WD line of portable drives

I got the Western Digital My Book Essential 3TB usb 3.0 for backup storage and i also take it with me on hollidays . I just lokked at the prize on this, and i realize it costs 135% more then what i payed for it. Must be the flood in Thailand that makes an impact on prizes. I also use a western digital my passport 500gb. Its good because its pocket sized. If i where you i would make a decision quickly before prizes goes even further up. Try find a seller who havent raised prizes yet.

Another possibility is to get an external enclosure for a regular hard drive. If you have an old mechanical hard drive lying around or a WD 1TB Green would be fantastic for the enclosure. The external dock is also a great idea. You just have to remember to keep it clean from dust.
