The EXPERT series mobo that I ordered landed today (revA02) - gonna do the quick PSU test first (make sure it's not faulty) and then hook it up today or tomorrow.

On a personal note for this - I have been asked to review this product for a proper review site......... for cash!!

Having never done an article before I will no doubt just try my best, it may not even get published - but nice (as in flattering) to have been asked.

Cool well pld Mav. Techpowerup have a good review of this board so I'd take a look at that for tips - there are obvious areas you could improve it in your review.

Tis only a matter of time now till we see Mav getting his own magazine column or Podcast! :p :D

LOL! Nice one!

@Vrykyl..loving the new avatar!

I'll give you 50p and a curry for the review proof reading you'll need.:D

On a serious note, Good Job in becoming a reviewer and many more to come i hope.

Mav are you gonna be testing it performance against other boards in things like frps, sandra, 3dmark, ect? If so what board are you gonna be putting it up against? You gotta try and get hold of the Dfi crossfire board and test it against that. Also would be good to know if the cold bug issue has been fixed too.

Cheers matey :D Thought it was about time I had an avatar...tis the one I use on ocforums and over-clock (as well as a few other places I hang out) only much smaller than normal ;)

Mav you have to take this thing for a spin under your prommie and let us know how much/if it beats the regular sli-dr :p

No this is purely a review for others to use as a comparison - I'll shall look at other MOBO reviews and try and do a basic job of probably what is more important to the more extreme user (me!).

Do not expect this to be a fully comprehensive review as I am not interested in stock performance (I'll leave that to the more mainstream) - I'll probs tell you how it compares to the current unit at max overclock with the kit I have.

As far as software goes - with limited resources that I have I intend to do as much 'realworld' stuff as is possible with the odd synthetic thrown in for fun.

@ Fatty - it's not who you think lol ;)

If you want to borrow my CF-DR you have but to ask. Go on spill the beans - who's it with?

My board has the same 'free' mod on it - will be testing later and will report back.

It's been said that you should attach power to the board in the 24pin and 8-pin sockets then fire it up - if yoru does not hiss then its all good.

If it hisses then RMA it immediately adn do not connect and hardware to it.

Why is that, what does the hissing mean?

I have a sli-dr away for an RMA which has been returned twice due to the tech cdepartment missing the faults on the board, as this has cost me twice in postage costs and a lot of time wasted I have asked Dfi to compensate me in the form of returning a Expert board:wink: . Fingers crossed they'll go for it.:)

dont forget mav custom pc are doing are featurew where theya re willing to take on a new reviewer so if you article does get published send it to custom pc they may pay you £250 and giev u a free monitor and send you even newer stuff than that to review!

Really?? I didnt know that...time to dust off my writers abilities: my first payslip was for Journalism/reviews for a magazine with a readership of roughly 90,000....at the age of 15 :):)

The 'hissing' means it'll blow up your CPU and take itself out at the same time.

Not looking to doo this all the time, might even be a one off depending if I enjoy it - but if I do like it then I can do say 1 a month or summit then I think it's manageable.
