Evovle atx and the new X399 boards from Asus

Having bought the evolve atx when Ryzen came out in preparation for a new build, and then sat on it when i heard about threadripper.

I changed my mind and now want to jump on the HEDT train, so i was leaning towards an Asus board but why oh why do Asus's new X399 boards have to be E-Atx and bigger than average ones as well.

It seems that they are just a few millimeters too wide to fit in my brand new case.

What to do now?

Apart from patiently wait for Toms review on the other boards on that chipset.

Yes, that is frustrating. There are things you could do, but all of them are a compromise.

a) You may be able to mod the Enthoo EVOLV to fit the slightly wider dimensions

b) You should easily be able to sell it (at a loss) as it's a very popular chassis

c) Wait for X399 boards that standard ATX or mATX

d) Ditch X399 and be contented with X370

e) Go for X299 (ASUS Strix or something like that)

Only you can answer this, unfortunately. Personally I would wait for the ATX boards to land. Of course, there's no guarantee of this, but it's what I would do.

The asrock x399 taichi, gigabyte x399 gaming 7 and msi x399 carbon boards are all standard ATX size.
